Lisa figured if she had no choice but to wait before starting college, she would go with the biggest payout for her time. Figuring that sarting college at 19 wouldn't be so bad if she had enough money to give her an advantage with college and her life. "I'd like to enroll in the surrogate mother program" Lisa told Tina.
"That's excellent. We've had a shortage of volunteers, so you will be kept busy." Tina told Lisa as she started printing out a contract.
Lisa knew the next 12 months were going to be rough, but she tried to picture the money that she would make. "Women have been giving birth since the beginning of time, I'm sure I'll find a way to manage." Lisa thought to herself to bolster her confidence. After signing all the paperwork, she asked "So when do I start and who will I be a surrogate for first?"
"Immediately. I notified our first client while you were signing the paperwork. She should be here in a couple hours. In the meantime, I'll take you to your transference room where you can watch a company video about the program. All clients are anonymously drawn for you on a first come, first serve basis." Tina told Lisa as she got up and ushered her to the door.
Lisa followed Tina down a hallway and flight of stairs until she ended up in a room with metallic looking walls. It was sparsely decorated with minimal furniture that included a simple white table, plastic chair and a wall mirrror. There also was something tall in the corner that was covered up with a sheet. Lisa sat down in the chair while Tina used a remote to summon a projector out of a wall panel. "The video should be close to being over when the client arrives." Tina told Lisa before handing her a simple cotton robe. "You can get changed into this while you're waiting too, the client will need your clothes to travel to our resort." She explained. Walking over to the object in the corner, Tina pulled off the cover and revealed a white egg shaped pod with a glass door.
"This is our new transference pod that uses remote transference technology. From here on out, your body at the resort will be near one of these so we can seamlessly transfer you to our next client without too many delays." Tina said proudly. "If you don't have any questions, I'll leave you to get undressed and watch our video." Tina asked.
"Nope." Lisa answered.
Tina walked out the door and Lisa began getting undressed while watching the video. It seemed like Lisa waited forever, and the informational video was really boring. She was slowly falling asleep when the video suddenly cut off and Tina came back in with a bag. "Okay Lisa. Our client arrives and is ready to start, let's get you into the pod to begin..."
Lisa walked over to the pod, where the door opened and revealed a ergonomic seat to sit on. Once inside, Tina closed the door and spoke to her through an intercom system. "Lisa, the transference is relatively painless. You'll fall asleep and wake up about 40 minutes later with your soul residing in the client's body. To yourself, you'll still appear as you. But everyone else and including anything to see yourself other than your own naked eye, you will be the client and vice versa. In this program you will reside at a luxury hotel furnished by us until the client's due date or if you go into labor early. About 4-7 days after giving birth depending on complications and being released from the hospital with a clean bill of health, you will be brought back here to the Nexus to transfer over to the next customer. I need a verbal acknowledgement that you understand." Tina read off the non disclaimer to Lisa.
"I understand and I'm ready to get started." Lisa responded back. Hearing a faint hum around her, Lisa leaned back in the chair and fell quickly asleep.
