Chapter #8

Zecora's Shack

    by: Unknown
You spent about ten minutes of walking through the Everfree, strictly in a rigid straight line (so that if you wanted to go back to the campsite you would just turn around). Just as you're about to turn back, you manage to spot a small structure in the distance. You silently trod up towards it, hoping not to attract the attention of whoever might be inside.

As you get closer, you get a few good glimpses of it through the trees. It seemed to be a house built into a large, ragged tree, with various ornaments and bottles hanging from its limbs, clattering ominously in the breeze. Finally you get close enough to peer through a window and scan the interior of the house. It seemed much larger on the inside then it looked on the outside. You recognize the place immediately by the strange masks and large cauldron in the center. This must be Zecora's place, although she doesn't seem to be home right now.

You rush back towards the camp with a smile on your face.

---

Thirty minutes later, you entered back into the clearing where the tree house was, helping Rainbow Dash hobble along with you, sleep still in her eyes. She had her injured leg propped up on your back, almost using you as a crutch. A semblance of a smile creeped on her face as she gazed upon the house.

"Hey, I know this place. This is Zecora's house," she noted, sleepily.

You played the fool. "Are you sure? It doesn't look like anybody lives here to me," You say as you push the door open with your side, the both of you stepping inside.

"She's probably just out," she remarked.

You walked her over to the little wooden bed in the corner, with a patterned blanket that looked like it was made out of animal hides. She lays down on her back with a sigh of relief, snuggling into the covers.

"Thank Celestia, an actual bed," she smiled. "I was getting tired of sleeping on that log."

As she got settled in, you moved the massive cauldron in the middle of the house aside and started a fire on the coals there.

"That should keep the house warm for the night," you explain, to no one in particular. You smile as you see Dash already curled up on the bed, asleep. Exhaustion finally setting up, you lie on your back on the uncomfortable wooden floor next to the fire, and drift to sleep.

---

Six hours later hours later, you're awoken by the sound of your own stomach grumbling.

"Urrgghh..." You groan as you pull yourself to your hooves. You rubbed the sleep out of your eyes as you looked out the window, listening to the sound of birds singing far above you. You had more then enough water around the house to keep thirst at bay, but you hadn't eaten in a while. Then again, going out into the extremely dangerous Everfree forest to find something to eat was probably a terrible idea. Perhaps you should stay at the house with Dash and try to see if you can get help.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Go out to try and find enough food for both of you

2. Stay at the house and try to call for help

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
