This choice: While telling her story, Miltank herself lets Floatzel in on a secret... • Go Back... Two weeks ago
"Oh, it's a pleasure being able to finally meet you, President of the cruise company!"
A young lady dressed in a frilly laced outfit stepped into the room, which was decorated quite sparsely with only a table and two chairs on each side, and greeted the middle-aged man before her, who was dressed in formal business wear, complete with a tie, cufflinks, down to his well-polished black suede boots.
"The pleasure is all mine, Miss June. Please, take a seat."
"Thank you!"
The both of them sat down in their respective chairs.
"The Pokemon Cruises so far have been simply, in my opinion, phenomenal! I've been enjoying every single one of them since the first!" June went about excitedly.
"I am glad to hear that. Now, I am a busy man, and my time is money. You did mention wanting to show me something?" the President rested his hands on the table, and asked June.
"I shan't waste your time, President. The view of the port is just right behind you, is it not?"
"How did you- Yes, it is. How did you know about this?" went the President, a tad puzzled.
"Tee-hee. Lucky guess!" June giggled.
The President simply squinted at her.
"Well, I was keeping track of the general direction as I entered your company building, and came to that conclusion." she shrugged. "Anyway enough about that. You should take a look outside your window...now."
"Hmm. Okay." the President smiled, and drew open the blue curtains, revealing a view of the port behind him.
"There's nothing out of the ordin- Wait, hang on a moment. Is that-"
June stood up to confirm if that was what he should be seeing. "Yep! You're looking at one of my lovely Pokemon over there, my adorable Miltank!" she spoke.
Her Miltank was just floating about near one of the docking areas in the port, recently released from a Pokeball by one of her friends who sneaked into the compound. At this moment she weighed more or less six thousand tons, and how June got her that huge is...her well-guarded secret.
"If you're talking about the campaign we were running, to seek out Pokemon cruise worthy, other than Floatzel himself, I have told you before that it's closed." the President dismissed, making reference to one of her letters submitted way past the due date.
"Aww, but the post office was closed quite a few times owing to harsh blizzards, where I live! That was why I could not have gotten it to you sooner...Pretty please, could you spare me a chance? For someone who's a loyal customer?" June winked cutely.
The President sighed. "The other candidates that we have found are being screened at the moment. It would cost extra resources to sign your Miltank up, which I cannot spare."
"You haven't chosen one yet, right? Tell you what, you could just give me a fraction of royalties the campaign mentioned about for selected Pokemon! You'll get another suitable candidate for your fleet, and if Miltank passes your tests it'll cost you less to upkeep right?" June reasoned.
"I...see. Do we have a deal, then?" the President held out his open right hand to June, holding it above the table.
"What? Huh?" went a dazed June, not expecting the President to agree to it so easily. "Yes, sure!" she exclaimed, as she answered his handshake.
"Excellent. My secretary will ready the contract papers. Once you have filled them up and signed them, Your Pokemon will begin testing as soon as possible."
"Yaaay! Thank you so much, President!"
"Note that this is not a confirmation that your Pokemon has been added to the fleet. The technology to build on them is actually rather costly, so we have to be sure that Miltank is suitable for the job." the President spoke, as he proceeded to exit the meeting room, but not before contacting his secretary over the intercom.

Back to present day...
"That's...interesting. So you belong to a trainer." Floatzel realised.
"Yeah, don't you?"
"Nope. Now that I think of it, though, you're not exactly mobile enough to make a good cruise ship. How did you manage to get chosen amongst the rest?"
"Pfft, I knew that question would crop up!" Miltank bellowed. "While it's true that during the selection they found others that were faster than me, some even larger than me- I mean, I thought at that size, I was the largest second only to you, but I got proven wrong! A really fat Wailord beat me! But that's acceptable, since normally Miltank are a lot smaller to begin with." she explained.
Miltank continued, "They tested us based on various factors: things like construction adhesion to our bodies all of us passed, and while I was like the third slowest of the bunch, with or without additional weights, I trumped them all in two parameters; rate of weight gain and inedible digestion."
"Ah, that means you can eat everything, like me, too." Floatzel spoke.
"Despite all that practice June gave me on eating steel cans and broken wood, I still felt a little scared eating things like solid concrete and whole mountains of garbage, but I got over it. Eating everything and anything now feels great to me!" the Miltank said happily.
"So, that's the story on how they picked me. But you look quite trustworthy. I'll let you in on a little secret."
"What is?" Floatzel asked.
"Bring your ear a little closer. I can't exactly budge an inch when out of water." Miltank said disappointedly.
"Right, and you think I'm more mobile. Let's see..." Floatzel, remembering how Valerie manages to reshape herself at will, attempted to soften his chins and neck rolls. He managed to make them a little more mobile, shifting his head gradually and leaning close to the Miltank's face.
"Psst...At the end of the testing, they made me eat everyone else. As a final test." Miltank whispered.
"What?!"
"Shh, not so loud! The contract says that disqualified candidates will be released into the wild, to live their plumped up lives to the fullest, but I think the company was trying to waste not. It worked well for me."
"So, that's why you're so fat."
"And that you're not?" Miltank shot back.
"No, that's not what I meant."
"Fine. Putting it more specifically they made me eat everyone in one sitting. I had to complete it within 24 hours, otherwise they said they would feed me to you." Miltank admitted.
"That's ridiculous! Even if I was to eat you, I would never bring myself to-"
"That's what I thought at the time too, until they announced 'Candidate Miltank, you're the winner, now eat everyone else!'. Without so much of a second thought, all of them went down the hatch, into my big, spacious, plump belly here." she patted it once, causing it to slosh about, giving her a tintillating sensation. "Even that Wailord which I talked about. Came in cocky at ten thousand over tons. So confident he was until he realised he couldn't gain much weight despite eating as much as we all did, and when he was eleven thousand tons by the time they announced me queen of the lot, I was like eighteen and a half. He wasn't so confident any more. That spread of fat Pokemon, all mine to devour, was simply heaven, and exploded my tastebuds! The salty taste of Lapras skin and that craggy shell was surprisingly good, the divine flavour of a blubbery and bloated Dragonite along with his stubby wings was a taste to behold, and that Flygon, a tad dry but a nice change of pace, and oh my, that sweet sweet Wailord! Utterly beating and humiliating him made it taste so much sweeter!~ And I topped it off with a big great *BUUURRRRPPP!*"
"I may have gotten a little too excited there, apologies." the Miltank mumbled, and hushed herself.
"No, it's okay." While Floatzel himself was marvelling a little at this Cow Pokemon's escapades, he himself knew that he was part of...something on a far grander scale.
"Are you not scared of me now?" Miltank questioned.
"Not really. It'll have to be a while before you can even dream of swallowing me whole!" Floatzel laughed.
"That much is true...say, how far are we away from Slateport right now?" indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
