It was an odd request to be sure but Rena didn’t hesitate. Oddly enough, even with her bare feet and the cuff of her jeans touching the water, Rena didn’t feel the slightest bit cold…a little wet, but not cold. Still, Rena pushed even these thoughts out of her mind, focusing only on transforming into a superhero capable of fighting crime. As she gathered her thoughts, some of the water from the tub began to creep over her clothes and body, until only her muzzle and part of her hair was left unexposed. A few seconds later and Rena could no longer feel anything wet but instead a vaguely rubber-like mass covering most of her body. Curious and excited at the same time, Rena jumped out of the time, not even noticing the water she was getting everywhere on the floor and stood in front of the bathroom mirror.
Just as she was starting to suspect, Rena’s usual attire of jeans and a black sweater was now replaced by a somewhat form fitting rubber suit, jet black with dark blue trims, dark blue gloves and boots built into the suit, and a few strips of material that covered the space between her legs to her rear and two patches on the front of the breast; Rena could only guess it was to keep herself decent in public. Even more curious was the fact that almost every part of her was covered by the black suit, even her tail, with only her white muzzle and the back of her head exposed, showing her fiery red hair that contrasted with the rest of her suit. While it was still obvious that she was a catgirl underneath, it did a great job of covering her fur pattern, ensuring her identity was safe; even her eyes appeared to be little more than white spots on her head, just like in the comic books and animation adaptations.
“Oooooh, cool…so this is my outfit? Not bad, not bad at all…so what are my powers, anyways? I mean, you mention water, so…”
“We’re running out of time but I’ll guide you as best as possible. Just know that your powers are easy to control as they are accomplished simply by thinking about them.” L’acquaser said, just before the water figure jumped at Rena’s flat stomach and seemed to disappear. However, Rena felt something enter her….did…she just absorbed her?
<Quickly, sit back down in the tub.>
Rena jumped a foot in the air and looked around, trying to find the source of the voice.
<It’s alright, Rena. It’s me. I’m inside your body. Like I said, water absorption is one of your abilities. I’ll stay inside you to guide you.>
Rena nodded, a little surprised, but hearing L’acquaser mention hurrying caused Rena to obey, sitting in about an inch of water.
<Now, imagining yourself melting into the water below, almost becoming a part of it. With just enough water, even a small puddle, you can use water to teleport yourself anywhere.>
Rena looked down, thinking about what she was just told to do. Rena then felt her body become strange and lost all sense of touch as she felt herself getting lower into the water until she was looking from a very small vantage point, seeing the sides of the tub. It was very strange, like being a fish yet she didn’t seem to have a physical body, so “swimming” was so effortless…like...a video game, or at least Rena might have made that comparison if she was actually a gamer. Still, swimming into a certain part of the tub caused everything to become a fog of blue, until Rena found herself in a wondrous place, comprised of nothing but water and millions of bubbles that held suspended in place, stretching out seemingly infinitely.
[Where am I? What is this place?]
<This is a power only you now have. With water, you can connect to any point in the world that has some sizeable amount of water. Anywhere from a dog’s dish to the deepest part of any ocean. While you can explore at your own leisure, that will take too long and we do not have the time. I’ll be your guide when you are here. For now, swimming towards that bubble that I have given a golden glow.>
Indeed, out of all of the bubbles hanging in space, only one had a golden aura around it. Swimming into it, Rena found herself in a very strange place; while still nothing more than water, she could have swore she was inside a water cooler! Rena looked around and saw that she appeared to be inside a bank and, what do you know, a gang of five men were robbing the place. Rena wished her first mission was a bit more…dramatic, but all superheroes have to start somewhere.
[I think I can see my target, but what can I do? I’m stuck by plastic, my mortal enemy!]
<Actually, I think electricity and extreme heat are your mortal enemy now. As water, no, as the human who controls water, you also can control pressure and force, simply swim towards the frame with all of your might, and you will burst out like a mighty stream. With this on your side, you can use as little force as a splash and enough force like fire hose or even a bullet.>
Not sure if that would really work, Rena “swam” back and then move forward, imagining herself with the force of a mighty river or tsunami, anything that could destroy plastic. It worked and Rena felt herself bursting through the container, falling to the ground in a puddle. Several people looked on in surprised at the mess on the floor.
<Now, reform yourself and fight in the name of justice! Do not fear, attack and your instincts will take over!>
Concentrating, Rena felt her level of vision rising until she was first a humanoid mass of water and eventually her clear body quickly became opaque and soon she was once again herself, only still clan in that odd outfit that perfectly hidden her true identity.
“W-what the hell is that thing?”
“S-she came out of the water from the cooler! I knew that thing was processed!”
“Just shut up and shoot already!” one of the men said, firing a bullet while all but one of the others quickly joined in. Rena instinctively shrieked and brought her arms over her face….only…she didn’t feel anything. Opening her eyes and looking behind her, there were several holes in the wall, behind where she was standing…how could she have…? Looking forward, Rena saw shock and horror on the face of the would-be felons, one of them firing again, into her stomach. This time, Rena watched, turning down just fast enough to see her stomach…splash? Water seemingly splash out of her body and feel to the floor but Rena didn’t have hardly a scratch on her. Did…her body automatically turn into water? Rena looking up with a new found confidence. This is what so many superheroes didn’t have that she possessed: invulnerability. The men looked on in confusion and terror at the one thing they could not solve just by shooting at it.
“W-who are you?” one man asked, the one who didn’t shoot and was on the verge of giving up; after all how can you fight against something you can’t shoot?
“I am the Hydraulic Superheroine, the woman of water, the liquid-based dispenser of justice! I am…Hydro Lady! Give up now and I’ll go easy on you.”
While the more curious one fell to his knees and placed his gun on the floor in defeat, the others rushed at Rena, who only laughed; after all, if bullets couldn’t hurt her, how could punches? In fact, that is exactly what happened; as the men tried to punch her, large sections of her body simply turned to water at the last second as some sort of defense mechanism and the men simply found themselves punching water, splashing it on themselves. Now it was Rena’s turn, though just before she made her connections, her fist always turned into water and hit at the men with severe pressure, adding quite a bit of power that her small frame simply lack. Within seconds all men were on the ground, unconscious. Rena then surveyed the location; no one seemed hurt though everyone was understandably scared and confused. One guy was recording the whole thing on his cell phone.
“You there!” Rena said, hand on her hip and pointing at him with her other hand.
“Guah! Y-yeah…”
“Stop trying to make the next big hit on YouTube and call 911 already!”
“Y-yes ma’am.”
“No, it’s Hydro Lady. And you there!” Rena said, pointing to the only gang member that gave up when Rena offered to go easy on them.
“Y-yes….”
“You stay right there and don’t move and I want you to confess everything. Because if I have to chase after you, I can guarantee that you will suffer just as much as your thick-headed friends, got it?”
“Yes…I-I won’t cause any trouble…”
“And just to be sure…” Rena said, grabbing the gun. While she maintained a steel face, it was a bit scary holding a live gun, even if she didn’t have to worry about getting shot. Interestingly enough, he still had the safety on; was he clueless or just hanging out with the wrong crowd? Either way, Rena managed to empty the bullets out and take them with her, then threw the empty gun on the floor and placed the bullets on the counter, telling the bank staff they better keep it behind the counter, as evidence. Looking around for her escape, Rena noticed there was still a bit of water left in the cooler. Thinking about turning into water and hoping her guess was right, Rena defied every imaginable law of physics and wavered into the shallow pool of water, her now watery legs following once her upper body completely disappeared inside the water. It wasn’t long until she found herself swimming again, surrounded by the millions of bubbles that connected this scared place with the rest of the world. You have the following choice: 1. Part 3 |
