Chapter #6

Starting a rumor.

by: Scifiwizard Retired Author IconMail Icon
You winced seeing a boy no older than yourself with short brown hair and brown eyes in the boy's school uniform looking at you with both curiosity and interest. You turned to Emily who grinned, obviously enjoying your awkward situation. "This is Cire." Honestly, she said. "She's my twin."

"I'm Ryan Sands." Smiling, the boy said. "I kind of stay in the crowd as my older sister, Bree is known as the gossip queen here at school." He blushed. "I never noticed you before now but... you're really cute."

Emily looked at you, her bemused grin turning into a more sinister one. "Well, my sister is a bit shy so she tends to blend into the crowd too."

"I guess we have something in common." smiling more, Ryan said.

You could not help blush as you discretely threw Emily a dirty look, one Ryan did not see, before forcing a shy smile. "I guess..."

Ryan took a cautious step forward. "Maybe... Maybe we can get together sometime and have a soda or something." Shyly, she said. He offered you a small folded piece of paper you suspected had his phone number on it. "Call me, if you're interested."

You hesitated but Emily took the paper and pushed it into a pocket in the folds of your pleated skirt. "She'll think about it, Ryan." Winking, she said.

You blushed further at that, not knowing how irresistibly cute it made you look. "Yeah... I'll think about it." Not knowing what else to say, you softly agreed.

Ryan smiled, blushing in tune with you. "Okay." Stepping back, he said. "I look forward to your call... Don't keep me waiting."

With that, he hurried off, vanishing into the crowd while Emily giggled. "Thanks for your support, sis." Sarcastically, you said. "I don't need a boy swooning over me on top of all of this."

"Welcome to a girl's world, sis." Bemused, she whispered. "I have to admit that I'm a bit jealous. You've only been a girl for a few hours and you're already sweeping boys off their feet without any effort." She giggled. "This is going to prove interesting."

"What do you mean?" Worried, you demanded.

"Bree Sands is the senior gossip queen." Smiling, Emily explained. "It won't be long before she learns that her little brother has asked out the new mystery girl in school."

You felt the color draining from your face. "She'll make the entire school curious about the 'mysterious' new girl." Nervous, you said. "What have you done?!"

"Calm down, Cire." Smiling, Emily said. "I just started a rumor that will help the school accept you as the girl you are."

You gulped. "This is all beginning to scare me." Uncertain, you muttered.

Emily giggled. "If you think this is scary, just wait until mom gives you 'The Talk'."

You sighed, wondering if you had made the right decision. With all that had happened, you knew that it was already too late to back out. You walked with Emily to mom whop was waiting for you in her car.

Mom was tall and slender but muscular with long forest brown hair and emerald green eyes and a body models would kill for though she did not flaunt it as others might. "There are my girls." Teasing, she said. "How was your day, my angels?"

Emily giggled as you blushed. "It was eventful, mom." Softly, you said. "But I'm guessing you already know most of it."

Mom motioned for you and Emily to get into the car where you all put on your seat belts and mom drove away from the school. "I will admit that I spearheaded the effort to start your journey into becoming a cheerleader." Calmly, she said. "Only no one is going to push you into becoming legally female." she frowned. "This is just to teach that arrogant football coach, Rusty Rune a lesson."

"A boy hit on me just before we left the school." Frowning, you said. "He gave me his number and is older sister is the school gossip queen."

Mom smiled. "My little girl is growing up." Teasing you again, she said. Seeing your face harden, she sighed. "No one is going to force you to call him but, if this boy is determined, giving him the cold shoulder will not detour him."

"I feel 'The Talk' coming on." Wincing, you said.

Mom smiled. "There are a lot of things girls need to worry about that no boy will ever understand, Cire." Calmly, she said. "Because you were born a boy, you don't need to worry about getting pregnant but there other issues."

As mom explained the various issues you would face being 'female', you began to gain a better understanding of how deep you had fallen into a girl's world including the fear of getting raped among other things. It was not until the car stopped that mom ended her lecture and you found yourself...
