The wobbling mass of living rubber climbed onto a chair and then the table, ecstatically blurbling "I want to join in!" through the gunk that filled its mouth. The formless goop seemed to contract around the youngster and Stanley watched in horror as Todd began to shrink, becoming smaller and smaller until he was little more than two inches high. The rubber coating his skin dried and solidified, casting him in shiny plastic, transforming him into a figurine like the rest.
"This is amazing!" the tiny figure shouted in an equally small voice. He grabbed up a sword from among the scattered remains of Steve's model army and threw himself into the fight, slicing away the Space Marine's arms before decapitating it with a sweeping blow.
"Stop breaking my figs!" Steve said, almost in tears as he took up the brush and gathered the remainder of his model forces into his palm. He daubed each with a lick of paint and they leapt from his grip down onto the table, advancing towards the Eldar and the shrunken plastic boy with menacing intent. Todd have a jubilant whoop as he laid into them with his blade.
"I need another ale," Derrick said weakly, popping open and downing a fourth.
Gregg's mouth had yet to close. "Stanley... mind explaining just what the hell is going on?"
Stanley's head was swimming. "I... I think I might have stolen a magic, transforming wand from a museum on the way here."
Derrick and Gregg considered this silently for a second. Then they shrugged. To twenty year veterans of fantasy roleplaying, this made perfect sense.
