“What is zis nonsense you are speaking of, mon cherie!?” Pepé retorted, confusing Penny.
“Why should some silly calories tarnish ze love ma heart burns for you!? No amount of perfume I could ever make would compare to ze most beautiful aroma you emit zat of which only mon heart can smell. You will always be ma sweet, little bon bon. And no amount of adipose will ever change zat. Ever.” he told her.
Penelope stood there, silent, speechless, moved by his romantic speech. She looked down at her belly, squishing it with her fingers. She had intended to gain all this weight as a form of repellent towards Pepé, but now it stuck out as a reminder of her actions to repel someone who loved her no matter what she looked like. Had she succeeded, she wouldn’t know how long it’d be til she found anyone else like that.
Penny takes great pride in her looks, being known to swoon almost every male cat she passes. But in her current state, she’s certain they would desert her without a second thought. Unlike them, Pepé maintains his feelings towards her, despite the changes her figure has undergone over the month.
She started to sob, regretting everything she’s planned after Pepé’s deep loyalty touched her in a way she would never struggle from. “Are you...okay, baby?” he said, noticing her ashamed expression and moistened sclera. “What is ze-“
She suddenly leapt towards him, squeezing him tight. Her heavier figure caused him to stumble backwards a bit before regaining balance. She then burst into tears, bawling over his shoulder. “OH PEPÉ!! I’M SO SORRY!! SO VERY *sob* VERY SORRY!!” she cried, tears running down her cheeks like her eyes had a bad case of the sniffles.
Pepé was once again confused, but this time also sympathetic. “I-it is okay, darling”. he comforted her, not knowing why but, didn’t think it mattered since he knew she needed it anyway.
Penelope’s current downpour has also landed her in close proximity with Pepé’s tail. She caught its repugnant odor over the skunk’s shoulder, making her gag. She felt like running, like getting as far away from the stench as possible. Like she’s always attempted to. But she realized just how hypocritical she’d be doing so, throwing away all the gratitude she’d felt towards Pepé for staying with her. Returning the favor, she held her nose, blocking the stink from her nostrils. “No, *sob*...not today.” she thought.
After a long and very shameful embrace, Pepé spoke. “Now, what is it you are here for, madame? And why have you become so ehh...squishy?” Penelope grew tense, her fear forming a white stripe down her back. If her new figure wouldn’t ward Pepé off, the revelation of her despicable ruse to disgust him into leaving her surely might. “Well...I...” she said, scrambling for a better alibi. Suddenly, both their stomachs grumbled in unison.
“I...was just wondering whezzér we could eat breakfast togezzer at ze park” she lied, giggling nervously. “Ah, a romantic breakfast with you would fill both mon stomach AND mon heart. What a wonderful idea....uhhhhh...” Pepé paused, realizing despite all these years of passionately pursuing Penny, he hasn’t...really asked for her name, especially since he’s always referred to her via pet names. “What is your name, darling?” Penny looked at him in disappointment, remembering how both his clinginess and stench have prevented her from sharing anything about herself up until this point. “...Penelope” she said, in a monotonous, annoyed tone. “Penelope? Hm, well it’s no surprise hearing such an attractive name from a gorgeous mademoiselle such as yourself~” he flirted, causing Penny to giggle her irritation away. “Let’s just get ourselves some breakfast, you provocative polecat you~” she replied.
So they went to the café nearby to get themselves some crepes to eat at the park. Penny’s chubbier figure didn’t help her stamina on the way there, with Pepé considering to carry her a few times. Which didn’t help HIS stamina on the way there.
Once they reached their destination, they caught their breaths sitting on the closest bench, after which they continued to have breakfast together. Although, Penelope remained curious about something Pepé said before they left. “Hey...Pepé” she said. “Yes, Penelope?” replied Pepé. “...i-is it true what you said back zere about...not minding my new...figure?” she said, shyly scratching her belly.
“Well, I mean, it was razzér shocking to see you plump up zis much just a month after we’ve last met. But whatever made you zis way, I hope I can help you fix yourself.” Pepé said. Penelope smiled sweetly at his ignorant, yet benevolent obligation.
“But, I will admit. Your new roundness makes you look, well...a teensy bit cute” he remarked. Penelope blushed, both flattered and bewildered by his statement. “No! You cannot be serious, Le Pew!” she said, with an embarrassed grin. “I am just being honest, madame. But you still manage to look ravishing even with a little plumpness added to your figure” he said, caressing Penny’s soft chin. “Oh you cannot possibly find ANY of zis attractive, Pepé. I said so myself, I have become one marshmallow of a kitty” she replied, nervously patting her plump belly for proof.
“Perhaps you have. Although...” he continued, scooting closer to her. “...you are quite a delicious looking one, if I do say so myself~”. He then grabbed her waist, catching her off guard. “Oh!!” she cried. “Oh, did I startle you, darling?” Pepé commented. “It feels razzér nice squeezing your soft, squishy rolls between mon fingers. Zey are called love handles for a reason, no?” he said as he massaged her sides. “Mmm~” she moaned slightly from the comfort. “Oh, zis is razzer nice~” she remarked, purring in contentment. “Oh, it gets better” Pepé replied. “What? What do you-“
But before she could finish, Pepé proceeded to tickle her, wildly wiggling his fingers over her torso. “HAHAHAHAHA, YO-YOU’RE TICKLING ME, LE PEW!!” she laughed. “You think I am not aware of zat, madame?” he replied. A part of Penelope considered she should escape, but she was far too amused to comply. Besides, she thought maybe Pepé deserved a chance after having witnessed his loyalty towards her today.
From a distance, Mailbird Roadrunner watched the loving moment occurring between the two, grinning stoically, but inside, proud of his contribution to it. He then turns to the viewers and sticks his tongue out as the iris closes on him.
C’est tout, Amis!!
