Silph Co. is responsible for much of the technology behind Pokemon. It was Silph Co that created the Pokeball and other kinds of Pokeballs including the Master Ball that could catch any pokemon without fail; you don't even have to battle a pokemon in order to catch it with a Master Ball. The cost to make a Master Ball is far too expensive to mass produce them; only very few people have a Master Ball. A couple of years ago, Team Rocket took over Silph Co in order to get a Master Ball. Back then the security of Silph Co was a cruel joke; the company spent little on security and the little security they did have didn't even have Pokemon to battle with and thus the takeover took place. It was a cakewalk for Team Rocket. Luckily a Pokemon trainer by the name of Red saved the company by pushing out the forces of Team Rocket...for his help, Red got the one of the first Master Ball that was ever produced. Red then went on to capture a Zapdos that had made its home in a power plant. (a/n note: Obliviously, not the same Zapdos that lives in the Orange Islands and I did tend to use the Master Ball to capture Zapdos. I thought Zapdos was more cooler than Mewtwo)
However this story isn't about Red and his adventures. After Red saved Silph Co, the company took security a little more seriously. To that end, the company hired a bunch of security guards with Pokemon in order to stop any future trouble. However that doesn't mean that trouble won't happen again.
Silph Co had its headquarters in Saffron City, the largest city in the Kanto region, A city so big that it has two pokemon gyms but only one of them is an Indigo League gym while the other gym is an actual gym. This story isn't about Sabrina or....whoever runs the other gym. Hey, give me a break here people. It's been years since I've played Pokemon Blue.
Ahem
This is a story about Officer Jenny of Saffron City.
------
Officer Jenny sighed as she went over paperwork at the police station. It was boring work but it needed to be done. She would prefer to be on patrol tonight but she had put off doing the paperwork for far too long now and she needed to do it. Anyway there would be nothing happening this late at night. The crime rate of Saffron had fallen off dramatically ever since that trainer drove out Team Rocket. Jenny wondered where was that young man now..what was his name? Red? A funny name to have Jenny had always thought. Why name someone after a color? Last names she could understand but first names? Jenny shook her head and continued to the paperwork before her.
Jenny wasn't the only officer at the police station of course. The station was filled with officers of both sexes. The room was filled was chatter and the ringing of phones.
"Jenny!" yelled a young male officer. "would you go over to Silph Co? They say there's a masked man prowling around"
"Yes please" said Jenny. "I'm tired of this dull paperwork. Anything else?"
"One of the security guards said that the masked man wasn't alone"
"Right" said Jenny. "I'm on it!"
Jenny arrived at Silph Co some ten minutes later on her motorcycle. She saw no evidence of a prowler anywhere near the building. She parked the motorcycle across the street and walked in the front door. A security guard met her at the reception desk.
"You say you have a prowler?" asked Jenny.
"Yeah" said the guard. "I noticed him outside just twenty minutes ago along with at least a dozen or so people following him. I hope it's not another take over"
"I doubt it" said Jenny. "the leader was wearing a mask?"
"Yeah" said the guard. "I didn't get a very good look at him though"
"What--" started Jenny.
"Weezing, smog!" yelled a male voice. Jenny turned in time to see the front door burst open and a man wearing a mask came in with a Weezing right in front of him. The Weezing opened its mouth and out spewed a thick dark cloud that quickly filled the room. Jenny threw her pokeball, releasing her Growlithe while the guard released a Staraptor--a rather interesting choice since Staraptor weren't known to live in Kanto. What happened next completely surprised Jenny.
"Staraptor, use Take Down on Growlithe!" ordered the guard.
Growlithe was taken completely by surprise as the Staraptor attacked. Growlithe was hit squarely which made it stagger but it didn't fall down.
"You're no guard!" said Jenny.
"What was the first clue, honey?" sneered the guard.
"Growlithe, Flame Thrower!" ordered Jenny. While giving the order she heard a dozen footsteps behind her. It sounded like a dozen people were entering the building. 'This is a distraction' Jenny realized. Jenny couldn't see much because of the smog left by Weezing so she couldn't tell where the people were going.
Growlithe fired a Flame Thrower at Staraptor who dodged it.
"Growlithe, you take care of this" said Jenny. "I'm going to---"
"No you don't!" yelled the fake guard who pulled some kind of gun out of a pocket and pointed it right at Jenny. It didn't look like a normal gun.
"Nighty-night" said the fake guard who fired the gun. The gun shot out some kind of bullet that hit Jenny squarely in the chest. The bullet wasn't going anywhere near fast enough to do damage but upon hitting Jenny, the bullet released some kind of gas that made Jenny black out. The last thing that Jenny knew before darkness took her was the sight of her Growlithe attacking the fake guard.
"Hey, are you alright?" asked a voice.
Jenny opened her eyes to see someone in a lab coat standing above her. Her eyes focused on the nametag on the white lab coat: Professor Timothy Tidwell, head of the Black Department*
"I think so" said Jenny seeing her Growlithe beside her. "what happened?"
"I don't know" said Tim. "the last thing I knew the whole room went black. When I came to I went down in the elevator and found you here. I think we had a break-in"
"Yeah" said Jenny. "was anything stolen?"
"We're still figuring that out" said Tim. There was something about that statement that made Jenny think that Tim was hiding something.
*The Black Department of Silph Co runs top-secret projects. Not even the other departments of Silph Co know what kind of projects the Black Department does.
(a/n note: This is a story where Jenny doesn't grow right away nor is it clear what will make her eventually grow. I wanted to start off on a mysterious robbery and leave it to you, the reader, to continue this story at this point in the story. I also wanted a story in which the main character doesn't grow right away. So I ask you not to make Jenny grow in the next chapter. Of course you can do anything you want because I can't stop you. I just don't want Jenny to grow because of that gun...why would robbers want to make a police officer grow?)
