Scoping you up in her arms, Cynthia cries "Erica honey, what's the matter?!"
Taking a moment to force yourself to stop screaming, followed by a few deep breaths in an effort to get control of yourself, staring incredulously at your stepmother, unable to believe that doesn't realize you've somehow become a girl, you exclaim "What's wrong?! WHAT'S WRONG?! I'm a freaking girl, that's what's wrong!"
Clearly confused by your response if her expression is anything to go by, your stepmother answers "Honey, I don't think I understand. You've always been a girl, just like every other surviving member of the human race. I mean, seriously, what else could you possibly be?"
Having missed the part about surviving humans you answer "But that's just it mom, I'm suppose to be a boy, not, not, this!" gesturing down at your new female form.
Giving you a blank stare for a few seconds, Cynthia suddenly laughs. "Oh, you had me going there for a moment kiddo! You must have gotten drunk while watching those old movies last night eh? Imagine, thinking you used to be a boy!" followed by further laughter.
Growing increasingly angry and confused by the moment, you demanded "Yea? And just what's so funny about that huh?!"
Her laughter tapering off, wiping a stray tear from her eye, Cynthia sarcastically replies "Well, aside from the obvious facts that your birth certificate lists you as a girl, with all of you baby pictures showing you the same way, there's also the minor mater that there haven't been any male humans left alive since shortly before you were born, something you should well know if you're even the slightest bit familiar with world history."
"W-w-what?! Y-you mean men are... are gone?!" you stammered incredulously, multiple complex emotions coursing through you, leaving you shocked, appalled, frightened, sad, angry and depressed all at once, struggling to process the idea of a world without men. refusing to accept it, you stammer "B-but that can't be! How can there be a world without men?!"
"Oh, but it is. I wish that wasn't the case Erica, really I do, but you know as well as I that there are no more men. Not since the gender plague wiped them all out sixteen years ago. But you should already be familiar with this. Are you sure you don't need to go to the hospital Erica? I mean, you haven't been taking any of drugs or hit your head or anything like that recently have you?" your stepmother asked cautiously.
"I-I... that is...." you stammered, unsure how you should answer that, having just had your entire world as you know it completely torn apart and reshaped into a form you can't even begin to recognize. In the end, you decide_______________________?
