Your families brains were transplanted into eac...

"...Although you and the rest of your family are in full recovery and your injuries are in no way life threatening now, it was a much different story after the paramedics pulled you all from the wreckage. You were in critical condition when you arrived, and in order to save your lives, extreme measures had to be taken."

"What... What do you mean?" you immediately began to panic. Not really understanding what he was talking about. Fearing however for your families lives. Your mom, Dad, Tabitha and David... What exactly had happened to them, and why did he look so nervous?

"You see, the impact of the truck that hit you caused severe brain injuries in all but one of you. Injuries that could not be healed by conventional medical procedure," he explained. "Fortunately myself and Dr. Saunders have been researching in the field of brain transplantation for nearly twenty years now. We knew that there was a chance, a slim chance, that using an experimental procedure that I devised, we could quite possibly save all of your lives by removing the part of the brain where the damage had occurred, attaching it to a different brain and then trick it into stimulating self repair once it was inside. Something which was only possible through a transplant."

This all went completely over your head. Not really having a clue what he was talking about. The bit that did stand out to you however, was the fact that he had seemingly taken out a bit of your brain and stuck it inside someone else's head. This realization causing you to gasp. Having written off what they had been arguing about earlier as being little more than a drug induced hallucination. It no longer seeming the case at all.

"Oh my God... You mean you...you actually removed bits of our brains and put them in someone else's body?" This being a particularly difficult concept to grasp.

"Yes. In fact, we put them inside each others bodies," he then told you, as casually as you like. "There simply wasn't time to try it any other way. The part of the brain that we removed would die if it was left on its own for long. It was a very risky operation, I'm not going to lie, but it was also the only possible way to save both you and your families lives. Otherwise you'd all have been completely brain dead, and then there would have been nothing we could have done." His face breaking into a smile, "Thankfully, it seems to have worked, as here you are." Giving you a rather condescending pat then on the shoulder.

"Wow," you said. "That's... That's insane! It sounds like something out of a science fiction movie or something." The news that you were all safe and sound after an operation like that being the main thing you'd taken away. Actually feeling kind of relieved now, as crazy as it was.

"Oh, It's quite real," Kerry assured you. Looking rather proud. "It's just never been done before... until now."

It was certainly going to make some story once you got out of here. Now being able to tell your best friend Randall that you had literally been inside someone else's head. Though you'd rather not know who's head truth be told. Simply being glad of the fact that your brain was now back in your own again. "Well thanks, Doc. I owe you my life."

Unfortunately, he didn't receive your gratitude in quite the manner you expected. His smile quickly disappearing as he began to look very uncomfortable once more. Telling you, "There uh... There's just one small complication we couldn't foresee..." Feeling your relief very quickly dissipating, as he continued, "Once the individual parts were all connected and had managed to repair themselves, we discovered that..."

"That they couldn't be removed again," Dr. Saunders then stepped in. Finally breaking his silence as he glared disapprovingly at his colleague.

This news naturally left you horrified. Causing you to shriek, "WHAT?"

"It was something Dr. Kerry had failed to take into account," the older doctor continued. "A brain can only be tampered with so much before it simply becomes too dangerous to play around with anymore. Any attempt to remove it now would result in a disaster. Instant brain death I'm afraid. Which means, sadly, you're all stuck as you are. Indefinitely. I'm so very sorry."

"Wuh-wuh-wait! You... You mean I'm... I'm not in my own body right now?" you stuttered. Having assumed that you were. Listening intently to the sound of your own croaky voice as you spoke. Realizing then, that it most definitely did not belong to you. "I'm... I'm someone else. Someone in my family?"

"Yes. I'm afraid so."

"But on the bright side, you're perfectly healthy and there seems to be no long lasting effects," Kerry added. Seemingly trying to salvage the situation and cover up for his own mistakes. "Your reflexes and motor skills all seem to be behaving normally and there has been no sign of rejection. In fact, medically speaking, it's almost as if these were your own bodies to begin with."

Oh God... This news definitely not making you feel any better.

"Obviously this must be a shock for you, just as it has been for the rest of your family, but I want to assure you that we had no idea this would happen. It really was the only way to save all of your lives. That's got to count for something."

In truth, you weren't really listening to him anymore. There being only one thought on your mind as the magnitude of this situation finally sunk in. And that was, "WHO? Who's body am I in?"

Dr. Kerry took a deep breath before replying. "You're in..."
