You're not sure how you feel about being "owned" by Morrigan. Even though part of the invitation for this particular event was that you were provided a "cover" for your parents, with them thinking you're at a weekend baseball camp, you're pretty sure that if Morrigan "owned" you, that you would be gone for a lot longer than a weekend.
Best just to avoid that possibility and make sure you win the game.
You hang on to the nines and toss in the other three cards. You end up getting the nine of diamonds, the six of hearts and the two of spades. Three nines should definitely keep you of the losing spot this round.
And as it happens, you're right. Morrigan ends up with the "honor" of the low hand, holding just a pair of fours.
"So much for you besting all of us," Cassandra tells Morrigan.
"A temporary setback," Morrigan smiles, tugging off her right glove. "Very temporary."
You eye Morrigan, wondering exactly how many, if any, clothes she has under that...that...well, whatever you call what she's wearing. She catches you eyeing her and giving you a saucy wink. You duck your head and blush, and try to focus on the new cards being dealt to you.
