Later that day, you walked into your room and winced. "I think its time I gave my room a new look." After a thought, you said. "The walls could use a little more color and I would like some more privacy..."
Making your decision, you left a note for mom that you were going to the mall and grabbed your wallet on your way out. Nearly a half an hour later, you returned with two buckets of paint, a few paint brushes, a drop cloth, and a small assortment of other items. Mom and Hayley watched you with a certain curiosity as you began to take down your wall hangings. Mom looked at the paint you purchased and raised a single eyebrow as she found it to be 'Satin blue'. "Planning to redecorate your room, John?" she asked.
"Yeah; I'm just sick of the plain white walls." Lightly, you said. "I'm thinking satin blue for the walls with a light pink for the boarders."
"Why light pink?" Holding back a giggle, Hayley asked.
"Is there something wrong with me getting in touch with my feminine side?" Smiling, you asked. "I just thought it would be a nice color to make my room more pleasing to look at."
"That's fine, dear." Smiling, mom said. "Do you need any help?"
"I don't think so." Honestly, you replied. "I'll call if I get stuck on something though."
"That's fine." Ushering Hayley out of your room, mom said. "We will leave you to your work."
Once mom closed the door to your room, Hayley turned to her, worried. "Mom, what is going on?"
"John found the magic book." Sighing, mom replied. "As I feared, the magic within it is slowly changing his gender, making him a girl for life."
"Can we stop it?" Worried, Hayley asked.
"I'm afraid not and telling him would only make the transition harder." Sadly, mom replied. "All we can do is wait it out and welcome the new Harrison girl when it is done." Hayley opened her mouth to speak but mom interrupted. "I do not like this either, Hayley." she said. "At least the changes will occur slow enough so no but you and I one will notice and John will ease into the life of a girl and a witch in this family."
