...Emma ejects your soul from her body

    by: Unknown
You feel something press into your chest. Not your new chest, YOUR chest. You try to keep walking but feel your progress slow to a crawl, and eventually your view starts moving backwards. Looking down you see your ghostly body sticking halfway out of Emma's corporeal form, your forearms trailing into hers and your lower half still inhabiting her own but your entire torso and head now protruding from her, leaning back heavily while her own upper half leaned forward. You also see the source of the pressure in your chest, a ghostly and distinctly feminine hand pushing you out of Emma's body. After a few more seconds you feel yourself falling backwards, losing all sensation in Emma's body as your spirit is launched out of it and sent sprawling onto the... well, you don't actually land on the ground. You kind of just hover an inch or so over it in a lying down position. As you fall back Emma stumbles forward a few steps, clutching her forehead and wincing for a few seconds before righting herself and wiping her brow. "Sorry about that, I'm gonna need full control of myself for a little while. I'll be working on things that'll help you get by as a ghost, and maybe a thing or two to help you reclaim your body." She said.

"You could've just told me to get out! Didn't need to throw me out like that." You grumble.

Emma rolled her eyes. "Don't be such a baby, I just wanted to test how strong your spirit was. See what I was working with."

You raise an eyebrow as you rise back onto your feet. "And?"

Emma shrugged. "Well, the good news is that you're stronger than most souls I've encountered. Most spirits only last about five seconds when I try to push them out, whereas you were able to hold on for about fifteen. The bad news is that you're still nowhere near as strong as the body snatcher. There's no way you'll be able to steal yourself back head on, and even with my help it'll still take at least two weeks of training and some powerful incantations to get yourself back, probably even longer. We only have one shot at this, you see."

"What do you mean?" You ask, worried.

"Well, the body snatcher isn't exactly what I'd call a 'good sport'. If you try to steal your body and fail to take it back, or can't fully eject him well... he may make you kill yourself. " She said.

Your jaw drops. "What?!"

"Yeah. And he also tends to get 'reckless' with bodies he gets bored with. Typically it takes him about a month to get tired of whatever body he's in so you probably have nothing to worry about right now, but we have a time frame. We have to wait at least two weeks before you're ready, and the more you practice and I perfect my spells the better chance we have of taking your body back. But the longer we wait the more danger your body is in. So... yeah. Let's get a move on." She says, motioning you towards her front door.

You float towards her house, your mind racing with worry. Why did this have to happen to you? You wait behind Emma as she unlocks the door to her house, realizing only after the fact that you probably could've just passed through it. Still, at least it made you look polite. Disembodied spirit or not it's still rude to enter someone's home before the host. Following Emma inside you are greeted by what looks like a haunted mansion. Dilapidated floorboards that creaked and groaned as Emma stepped across them, austere architecture with doorways that were ever so slightly crooked and walls that were painted ever so slightly different shades of grey, and dust covered antiques that looked more at home in a scrap yard then inside someone's home. You then realized that Emma's home didn't just look haunted.

"Who's your new friend, Em?" A new voice inquired, a very peppy and girlish voice. You watch as a translucent figure sinks through the ceiling, slowly decending towards the floor until she's hovering just an inch or so over it. It takes you very little time to realize that this figure is female, her flowing and multi-layered dress and long locks of brown hair framing a gorgeous figure with full curves and a tender face with big blue eyes. It also takes you very little time to realize that while she's a spirit like you she's no lost soul. No, what you were looking at was a genuine ghost.

Blood soaked bandages wrapped around her neck starting at her shoulders and rising all the way up to her jawline, the fabric now a dull brown in the center and white only along the frayed edges. Her head sat at a 45 degree angle on her shoulders leaning to her right, as though her neck had been broken and she could no longer hold it upright. She'd clearly suffered some kind of horrible death, though whether it was at the hands of the body snatcher or some unrelated circumstance was unknown.

"Hey Victoria, this is... uh... huh. You know I don't think you ever gave me your name." Emma says, scratching her chin.

"Damon." You say, extending your hand towards Victoria.

"Nice to meet you Damon!" She says cheerfully, taking your hand and shaking it violently. To your surprise her had was rather warm and solid, much like a living woman's hand felt. You suppose it made sense, spirits could interact with one another as though they were physical since they existed on the same plane. "It's quite rare for Emma to bring company over, she's usually such a shut in!"

Emma frowns. "Well it's not my fault that most people freak out when they realize that my roommate is a ghost!"

"Landlord, thank you very much." Victoria corrects smugly. "Let's not forget who this house actually belongs to and who is just living here. No pun intended." She turns her attention to you. "So, what brings you to my humble abode?"

"I... uh... my body got stolen. And Emma says she could help me get it back." You explain.

Victoria frowns. "I'm sorry to hear that. Emma tells me that there's been a lot of body snatching going on around theses parts. If it makes you feel any better Em's the best spiritualist I've ever met in my entire afterlife! If anyone can get you your body back, she can! Sure she's never successfully beaten the body snatcher before, but it's only a matter of time before she gets her first!"

"Th-thanks..." You say, wishing she hadn't added that last part.

"Don't worry." Emma says, trying to sound more confident than she likely felt. "You're a strong spirit, and while I've yet to beat the body snatcher with my incantations I've gotten closer and closer every time. I swear, I will do everything I can to get you your body back. And if I can't? Well, I'll do everything I can to help you adjust to your new life."

"Thank you." You say.

"Now then, I've got a lot of work to do. Victoria, why don't you entertain our guest while I whip something up ?" Emma suggests.

"It would be my pleasure! It's been ever so long since you've brought a man home , especially a cute one like this!" She said, causing you to blush. "Come, right this way!" She says, taking your hand and pulling you behind her. She pulls your incorporeal mass clean through a wall and into...
