This choice: Your soul starts merging with your girlfriend's to become one • Go Back...Chapter #4Your soul merges with your girlfriend's by: figs As your spirit gains control of your girlfriend's, Sam's, body you can feel her soul being pushed out. You do not want to doom her to the bodiless fate you've just escaped, so you focus your energy toward embracing her soul in your own.
Two distinctive souls is too much for her body to contain. A violent pressure builds up trying to force one of you out. Within some sort of spiritual recess of Sam's body your souls acknowledge each other for one final moment. The shared feeling of comfort in this embrace resonates, and the pressure suddenly implodes.
Everything you were is forced into your girlfriend's being. You had been Matt but no longer. You are part of Sam now. Rather, as two individual identities no longer exist, you simply are Sam.
You come back to awareness upon the sidewalk pavement. The sensations of life return to you, but your head feels extremely hazy. Thoughts, memories, and feelings are jumbled and disorganized inside. A group of strangers has amassed around you.
"Are you ok?" one asks. "You suddenly started shaking and collapsed."
"Yeah," you reply. "I think I'm fine."
This situation is very confusing, as you can not remember what had happened. Looking through the crowd you see Matt, your boyfriend, looking down at you with an amused smirk on his face. Suddenly, it hits you. You remember everything. That is not Matt.
"You..." you murmur, pointing at the imposter Matt. You try to rise to your feet but your legs shake in protest. The merging of two soul's has left your body drained of energy.
"Are you sure you're alright?" the concerned stranger asks. "Maybe you should sit back down."
Imposter Matt steps in from the crowd. "Don't worry," says Matt. "I'll take her home." He kneels down and signals for you to ride on his back. "Hop on," he says.
You submit without objection. You don't have enough energy for objections.
As imposter Matt carries you away from the crowd he remarks to you, "so, how about you show me where home is?" You can imagine that amused smirk still sitting uncharacteristically upon his stolen face. There's nothing you can do right now, so you give him directions as you go.
You let your weight settle into his back and shoulders. Confused emotions swirled inside you. You felt scared, angry, sad, and then scared again. Part of you, however, felt oddly comforted. Being carried like this made you feel safe and loved. You liked being this close to Matt. Even though it was a stranger inside his body, even though you had been Matt until recently, you still possessed the original Sam's attraction to Matt. You felt warm inside.
"That one." you said as you pointed out the house to imposter Matt.
You rested your head upon his shoulder as your vision hazed and you embraced sleep.
