Harry felt the blood pounding in his ears. The room was eerily silent, as he strained a sibilant voice came from the glass. Or at least sounded like it did. The floorboard creaked as he stepped up to the mirror. Holding the frame, he peered behind, double-checking for any pranking Weasley brothers.
Feeling the ornate carving, he eased himself back to face the mirror. Hunting for some trace of its' purpose. Was it a lure, like the mirror of Erised, that would entice with empty futures, or tease with false pasts.
His fingers traced letters hidden amidst the decorative ivy carved around the frame. The leonine Harry appeared in the mirror, when he peered more closely at it.
He recoiled, as he heard the whisper once more. This time, it was distinct enough to make out.
"Come... Come explore..." The invitation was a siren call, insidiously tempting. When he was caught by the reflection, this time his face inches from the surface. He could make out more!
The shape of his face was different in the mirror. A hand reaching up to caress the different chins, only cemented the impression. Harry's hand in the glass was slender and feminine. He recoiled, as it hit him, that was a female version of himself! The eyes more expressive, and the hint of a bust making the mirror-jumper swell.
"Come... Explore... Experiment..." The words were seductive, enticing. Harry frowned wondering if they were parsel tongue. He'd never noticed when he spoke that rather than human speech. It was all subconscious.
Twisting his wrist this way and that, he was more fascinated with the mirror hand. It seemed to have a glossy sheen. Not coloured, not painted, but protected.
As his hand drifted, the mirror reflection making his gestures awkward and counter intuitive. It drifted closer to the surface. The chill touch startled Harry, and he snatched his hand back.
It was then the ripples spread out from the point of contact, spreading in circles out to the frame before vanishing.
