Your drone skims through the sky, dropping a little lower to get a better view of the details. There's an impressive amount of foot trafic in the streets of the suburbs, and always people moving in groups: from young adults hanging around together, to children at play, to older people meeting to exchange gossip.
The houses themselves are small, packed close against each other. Fences keep them apart, but people are leaning over them to chat with their neighbour at regular intervals. A real close community, that's what this is. Seems safe.
Still, when you land, you want it to be away from people, so as not to get spotted and captured by a giant. Thus you direct your flight path away from the centre of the area, to its periphery, where the crowds thin out and you find yourself hovering above an empty garden.
Sure, the garden is littered with kids' toys indicating that there are some here, but you can see none right now. And most of them are almost buried by the untrimmed grass - the place is pretty overgrown, and you suspect it doesn't get a lot of care. The perfect place for an unseen landing.
Crack! A drone's fan stops working, and you're going down! You clamber across the machine, looking for how you can fix it, and see a cannonball embedded in its wing, having torn through vital mechanisms.
No, not a cannonball... You're three-quarters of an inch tall! That's just a ball bearing, fired from a bb gun, not a cannon!
It makes little difference as you crash into the garden, your drone whining as it bounces before drawing to a halt, its remaining fans sputtering and dying. Well, looks like your landing zone has been chosen for you!
"Ain't no-one spyin' on my property with a god-damn drone!" someone shouts, and you can feel the shudders through the ground of approaching footsteps. That kinda solves the mystery of the shooter, but doesn't decide what you should do next.
You could stick with the drone, hide under it and let the giant carry you away when they pick it up. A chance of being spotted, but hopefully they're not that observant.
Or you could run into the long grass, hide until the shooter goes away.
But why stay here at all? You should just run from this crazy place, toward the street and somewhere safer to start your tiny survival!
