It's a long shot, but right now it's your only hope. You wanted to return home, an incalculable distance to your insect-sized self, but with this bird flying at such great speed you could get there in minutes, if only you could direct it somehow. To maintain your survival, you must exert humanity's power to impose its will upon the natural world!
Step one: get off its belly. Easier said than done, with the incredible velocities whipping at you constantly. Still, you grip tight to the plumage and heave yourself higher, marvelling at how the thunderous beating of this tiny creature's heart vibrates through you.
The oriole swoops and glides, the beating of its wings cracking noisily and rapidly. With your body devoted to labour, your mind wanders to the majesty of your experience: the first creature you have encountered is an everyday being that would draw no especial attention, yet even this is an animal capable of inspiring awe and demonstrating power if seen from the right perspective.
You crest the back of its neck, and are now shielded somewhat from the winds by the bird's head. A moment to rest and recover, although you can't waste too much time. You start uncoiling your rope, measuring out the distance to the beak. Just enough! But how to get it in place?
