He strolled trough the house, feeling delirious. Looking for a first target to try this on, he anxiously went from room to room, but his sister seemed to be out and his dad was nowhere to be found. He found mom in the backyard, rummaging with the lawnmower.
"Hey mom, need help?" He asked her as she nearly pulled her own shoulder out of place trying to start the contraption.
"Oh- well you're welcome to try. Your dad always gets it started, but I can't get the knack of it." She sighed, hands to hips.
It was an old lawnmower. Smelling of gasoline and pulverized grass, it looked like had seen the better part of a century. Possibly a few wars. He remembered his dad smiling triumphantly, parading behind it across the lawn once he got it running. Yelling "See, it also clears the wildlife." over the noise, while every bird, squirrel and cat in a two block radius desperately fled for dear life. No way was he gonna bust his shoulder trying to get that bastard started.
"Yeah, I think we're gonna need a new one. Where is dad, anyway?" He said, walking around the lawnmower with some awe.
"Working late this entire month. Some big project." She sighed again. "You know, it's a shame we don't have a goat or a cow or something. This whole thing would sort itself..." She waved an arm indicating the foot long grass.
"Well that's true..." He said, looking from his mom to the miniature jungle. He could turn his mom into some sort of grazer, if only for a few days. On the other hand, it'd be done quicker if they had a new lawnmower...
