Muttering to himself, Eric picked his phone back up and called his friends back.
"...Hey. You there?. Yeah, listen I- No, I'm not backing out. I'm not!.... I don't have a costume.... Well, yeah, considering I'm only coming out cause you guys wouldn't stop shouting at me, I'd say it kind of is your problem!.... Oh. You have something? Cool, alright... See you soon."
Eric put his phone back in his pocket. It was nice that he didn't have to deal with getting a costume in less than an hour, and that he had some free time to relax before being forced out. Sandy was probably capable of putting something together quick enough... but she had difficulty understanding what people would or would not like. If the costume was left up to Sandy, Eric had a feeling he wouldn't like it. And then there was Allison. Out of the four of them, Eric and Allison probably had the prickliest relationship. They got along fine most of the time, but they did like to make jabs at each other, give the other a hard time. He wouldn't put it past Allison to give him something just to screw with his head.
Still, in what felt like an eternity and yet no time at all, Eric heard his doorbell ringing. Sighing deeply, he came downstairs and opened his door to a cry of "Trick-or-Treat!" from his friends.
Joe was dressed pretty plainly for a Halloween costume- a baseball players outfit, with accompanying bat and mitt. Sandy was some sort of fairy; not quite Tinkerbell, but with the same sort of wings and dress. And finally, Allison, in some sort of spy suit. The gloves and boots were sleek, the catsuit tight, and even some sort of utility belt to complete the ensemble.
"So," Eric began, only to have a bag dropped at his feet. He surmised that his costume was inside, but when he looked into the bag, he was dismayed to find...
