After shimmying your way around to the opening you peer down into the ear canal. Like the rest of the horse's body, the ear is lined with fur and pink skin, although it's it's much finer here. If you want to get her attention now would be the place to do it. You inhale and exhale deeply to inflate your lungs and clear your throat. The little breath you take causes her ear to twitch slightly. You feel almost sorry for what you're about to do. Inhaling a final time, you hold it before you shout "HEY!" into the exposed pinna. The response is immediate. A loud gasp is heard outside, making the head turn sharply. You quickly lose your balance and fall flailing into the ear canal.
The interior is hot and slightly waxy. You hear a loud pulse roaring and shaking your own eardrums, threatening to deafen you. Your world is turmoil as the filly desperately bats at her ear with a hind leg to try to dislodge the loud irritant.
After a short drop you land on the soft flesh, a little shaken but unharmed, however, you are now so far in that there's no way you can exit without assistance. You are once again in the dark, surrounded by soft inner tissue. If you had to take a guess you're somewhere near the eardrum
"...Hello? Can you hear me?" you call out, trying to get her attention, "Help me get out of this place!"
If she understood or even heard you, you felt no reply. Stifling and hot, the ever-present drumbeat of her heart makes you drowsy. The climb to get up here wore you out. Maybe it's time to take a little snooze...
