Chapter #4
Worth her Weight in Gold
by: Unknown
Antala the succubus was busy placing all the stolen gold she had into a suitcase as the radio was playing. "In other news, police are still on the look out for one hundred gold bars stolen from the Yokaitown Mint on the West coast of San Kassir. The suspect is believed to be 5' 10". Local witnesses describe the culprit as a red skinned and silver haired monster in the demon grouping. Most likely an incubus or succubus, depending on the gender. Citizens are advised to be on the lookout."
Antala looked out the window and saw that down the street there was a police cruiser that looked like the kind that gargoyles would drive. Antala looked at her briefcase filled with gold coins and took a handful of them as she smiled. "Suspect is believed to be seeking to fence the gold in Hellseid, North of City limits." Continued the radio.
Antala then took a press of some kind and used it on the last gold bar she had to turn the gold into more coins. "Good thing they didn't know I stole this press along with the gold," she said with a smirk. "They're looking for gold bars, not gold coins." Antala let out a sinister laugh before she heard a knocking from downstairs. "Ms. Antala!?" called a voice. "Ms. Antala! This is the police! We have some questions for you."
Antala gasped and then looked out her window to see two large male gargoyles dressed in police uniforms outside her front door. One was a pudgy tealish blue skinned gargoyle with spikes running down his head and large fangs while the other was a red gargoyle with a beaked mouth and white hair. "We're not here to arrest you," said the red gargoyle as he continued to knock. "Maybe."
"Crap." Thought Antala to herself. "Stupid gargoyles cops. If they see this gold, I'm history." Antala looked around to find any possible way of disposing of the gold. First, she looked out the window. She could've tossed out the gold, but the cops would've seen it. She could've hidden it under her bed but they were cops, it was their job to search the whole house and throwing it down the drain was out of the question.
Antala was sweating before the red gargoyle knocked again. "Open this door or we're breaking it down! We have a warrant!" Antala saw the gold and then got a desperate idea and gulped. "What other choice do I have?" she asked. Antala grunted as she held the briefcase and opened it up before grabbing the gold by the handful and shoveling every last coin down her throat.
At this point the red gargoyle was getting impatient. "I don't think she's opening the door, Bennett." Said the teal gargoyle. "Then I'm breaking the #&@%ing door down." The red gargoyle was ready to punch the door open but then Antala opened it with a smile. "Is there a problem officers?" she asked.
Both gargoyle cops looked in surprise because Antala's stomach had swelled so much that she looked like she was pregnant with octuplets. "Uh," said the red cop as he tipped his hat. "I'm terribly sorry to trouble a woman in your position, ma'am. But we're here on word from a witness and have to search your house." Antala gave a smirk. "Search away." She said.
