“Let’s head to the Northern Hemisphere,” you decide. “If there’s more rivers up there, that is where humans are most likely to end up. Also, we might as well meet some of the animals that live on the planet, and we have a better chance of find them in the north.”
“Alright, captain,” Erin responds. The computer slowly guides the ship down into a small clearing on the north side of the planet. “Well, if we were on Earth, you’d be in the Northwestern United States right now. There’s some rain out there, but your suit is waterproof, so it will brush off all the rain. The temperature outside is 50° F, and I am not seeing any signs of animals around here. I will be able to communicate with you through the suit, even with the rain.”
“What would be good places to go?” you ask Erin.
“I am reading signs of a river about five miles north of here, if you would like to get a look at the water,” Erin announces. “Also, there is particularly dense vegetation to the south of our position, about eight miles out. Six miles to the west, there are some clear areas where humans might be able to build houses without disturbing anything.”
You step out of the door to the Swift Feather and tell Erin, “I’ll head out…”
