Heads adopted as pets!
This choice: Male Head Wanting Female Body  •  Go Back...
Chapter #4

At this point, would any kind of body do?

    by: Enigma Author IconMail Icon
Collin sighed again for the umpteenth time today, as he watched from his spot near the store window, one of the female heads from the from the black section selves walk out on her, now his, new latino teenager body. The sound of the other heads welcoming the new "acquisition" to the store made him feel only more miserable than usual. He was already the longest resident in the store, and every time potential swappers walked by him as they pursed the shelves for adoption, or some lucky head to loan or give away their body to, his stay felt more as a sentence.

To Collin, a 15 year-old white head with light brown curly hair, blue eyes, and fresh acne (this time under his left eye), life had become unbearable to the former teen when he made the momentous decision to give up his body and become a head. In his old school, he was almost invisible and had no real motivation to work hard on either his grades or even a crummy fast-food job. His parents practically gave up trying to get him to distinguish himself in any meaningful way, and afterwards he sensed he was a disappointment to them. When he loudly announced one night he signed a wavier to give up his body and life at the Pet Head Adoption Store, they perked up and talked about making arrangements for their new son as his bratty sister made fun of him by clapping loudly.

It was only a bluff, just to get them to try and help by challenging him again, but after that night he gave up in frustration and resigned to making good on his empty threat. The next day he payed little attention to his family as argued about who their new family member would be, and pointedly ignored the 25 year-old male head that tried to thank him before leaving with his body. For a while, he would smile and try to make conversation with customers who wanted to live as a head; but as time wore on, he noticed that all the other heads were either adopted or went on to new lives. The staff at the store were very courteous to him, but lately he became disillusioned at his chances for obtaining a new body. The only people who showed any real interest in him, were little girls who kept giggling at his acme. As an immortal head, he was stuck with recurring periods where he would develop pimples; when they happened, it would make his attitude worse.

Since he could only leave store by being adopted or with a body of his own, his choices were very limited. He hated the idea of being adopted, mostly because of a recurring fear of being ignored as a pet, and that meant he had to convince someone to give him their body, or he could pick one from stock. Unfortunately, all the current bodies in storage where either too old or too young to be any use to him. Most bodies that stayed in storage had issues that made living off them undesirable, and only bodies under the age of seven were available long enough for him to choose from. Collin would have to be made a ward of the state as there were no legal guardians to care for him if he chose a child's body and the thought of stick out like a sore thumb for the next decade gave him pause.

He sighed again as he turned his attention to the window...
