This choice: You're Needed in the Aurora Night Club • Go Back...Chapter #3You're Needed in the Aurora Night Club by: Unknown "Yo, Gregory!"
I turned around. Standing some feet away on the sand was Mavis, waving me down with a small smile on her beak. Her massive, blubbery figure was packed into a bodysuit made out of thick rubber, which had two clear plastic domes visible over either shoulder along the back.
"Hey, Mavis. What's up?"
"Not much, but I'm gonna need a hand with setting the Aurora up. Hop on!"
Mavis shuffled around, flicking her back to fling open the unzipped chamber along her left shoulder blade. I grasped onto the plastic rungs built into the legs, careful not to make too much unnecessary contact with her colossal rump as I climbed over and clutched onto her pods's handlebars, reaching around to pull the chamber back down.
Mavis tugged at the head of the zipper, sealing me within the cramped pod. "Ready?"
"Yup, I'm ready."
Mavis waddled along the sand into a path signed for the Oceania: the largest swimming pool known to either of our worlds. It didn't have the illusory treatment as the beach pool did to look infinite, but standing on the edge, it's furthest ends still seemed to hang far in the horizon, longer and wider than a dozen football fields.
"Hold on!" Mavis called back before tilting forward, and she dove so smoothly into the water that I didn't feel her body hit the surface.
Her feet expertly paddled into the darkness of the deepwater, ignorant of how round the rest of her body was. Far around us, the walls of the pool were covered by windows and doors to rooms built within, like we were swimming through some sort of ancient city that'd sunk beneath the ocean eons ago, but a few lights coming through the murky haze nixed that image.
The light above the surface had trouble reaching us the deeper we got, and the water around us was as dark as midnight, save for a scribble of purple neon lights somewhere in the corner ahead. It got colder, too, but thankfully Mavis' natural padding felt incredibly warm beneath her body's plastic covering.
"Alright, we're almost there!" Mavis called through the water. Even underwater, the doors to the club were given the complete treatment with a synthetic red carpet affixed to the floor, spotlights flanking the entrance, and a bright, enormous marquee overlooking the path inside with vibrant neon lights glowing on the borders, a pink set for "The Aurora" title plastered over in cursive.
The bouncer immediately stepped aside for Mavis. Inside, we glided through the underwater section of the club, which had tables, a bar and dance floor built into the ground, but Mavis swept up and broke the surface, paddling up to a staircase leading up to the ground.
"Alright, the Aurora!" She announced, unzipping the suit and shaking the pod open so I could slide back down onto the icy floor. Her tightly compacted mass sprung outwards an extra two feet in every direction once the suit was removed, but foremost with her belly, which slammed onto the ground in a pompous, yet saggy globe of blubber covered in slippery feathers.
The lights in the club actually came through the floor in a pale white glow, casting an eerie aura on the cavern-like chambers of the arctic resort. It wasn't just during the winter; year round, an chilled mist hung around the ice-coated walls, condensing my breath and causing me to shiver.
"There's an extra coat for you in the jacket hangar." Mavis noted, adjusting her waitress uniform.
"Thanks. So, how can I help things out around here?" indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
