"Hey...Gregory?"
Until then, none of us'd said anything throughout our little gaming bash, nothing except for a few whoops of victory or defeated grumbles. I played on top of one of Yazuki's enormous, scaly legs, nestled up against the bulge of her profound potbelly. I couldn't tell if Yazuki noticed me occasionally glance down at her legs, whose massive girths were vastly exposed by a pair of blue gym shorts that were downright tiny compared to the lengths they were trying to cover up, but about halfway through our session, I couldn't help but feel a nag at my brain as her body's natural green slowly, very slowly, merged over to another hue. By now, it was quite clear that her body'd dulled over in to a bit of a light blue pastel.
"Yeah, Yazuki?"
"I had a...well, a little question to ask you."
"Sure, what's up?"
The very last hint of green on her vanished, leaving only a very soft cyan. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see her head glance over at Miss Blanc, whose black eyes were watching the both of us with an expectant look.
"You said that you had some free time for the week, right?" She asked, stammering ever so slightly.
"Yeah. Why're you asking?"
"Well...if you had any other plans in mind, you don't have to, but..." She gulped loudly. I turned my head back, looking up at her as her neck tensed before she shut her eyes, breathing in deeply. "...w-would you be interested in meeting with me in the Glass tornado?"
Having looked away from the game, I ignored Miss Blanc's happy buzzing at something that happened onscreen. It wasn't her request that surprised me the most; I didn't exactly have a reason to say no, but there was something about her bashful tone that clued me in. Even though she was in front of me and Miss Blanc, of all people, it seemed like she'd suddenly gone back to the shy, neurotic lizard we'd met on her first day.
I shrugged. "I guess. How come?"
"Oh...well..." She jabbered, eyes darting around. "I just...you know, thought maybe we could just spend some time together, you know...hang out for a bit?"
I could hear her voice go into full-on geek at the last few words. I was about to ask a few more questions, even pointing up a finger, but as I quickly looked around the room and back at Miss Blanc, who once again was leaning in towards the conversation, I decided to let it fall back in my lap and cast Yazuki a gentle smile. "Sure! Sounds fun."
"R-Really?! You do?"
"Yup. Just give a time, and I'm there!" I said as I turned back to the TV, where Miss Blanc was readily setting up the next game.
"Yay!" I could hear Yazuki gush, the blue on her legs flaring out into a brilliant yellow, but she instantly quelled over as Miss Blanc's body wobbled with a humored chuckle. "I-I mean, how does 10:30 sound? At the beach?"
"Sounds fine. I'll make it!"
"A-Alright. Thank you." She whispered.
...and with that, the three of us turned back to the game, going silent once again. Through the rest of our playing, I couldn't feel any more of Yazuki's jitters from on top of her lap, but the hue of its scales didn't let go of a vague tint for that same shade of yellow...
