Trapped like a Rat!

Dakota jumped and dropped her phone in shock as the metal door slammed shut behind her, the device landing flat with the lightbulb facing downwards. Shrieking as she was plunged into darkness, Dakota flung herself to the ground and scrambled to find her phone.

"Shit shit shit shit!" Running her hands over the grimy floor of the shipping crate, she finally located the phone, screen cracked but still working, thankfully, and dashed to the door. Evidently it was weighted so it would shut on its own if someone like Piper (or me, Dakota thought guiltily) wouldn't spot the open door and sneak in. Trying her best not to panic, Dakota tried to open the crate again, but the door operated on some kind of lever thing, and it either wouldn't open from the inside or had locked itself from the outside.

"Piper, Zack? Are you still there?!" Dakota shouted, pounding on the metal door frantically. "I-I can't open the door, you gotta let me out! Guys!?!" Dakota pressed her ear to the door, hoping to hear rushing footsteps or Zack's voice nearby, but nothing was audible. She thought she heard a muffled voice, but it was either too far away or the crate itself was too soundproofed to pick it up. Heart pounding out of her chest, Dakota paced in the small space feverishly, hoping to spot some hidden entrance or secret lever to pop the door open.

"S-stupid pier" Dakota vented at the empty air, her anxiety starting to get the better of her. "Why did we h-have to go here? Now I'm gonna be s-stuck inside this s-stupid crate with this s-stupid box..."

Still about five seconds from a complete panic attack, Dakota suddenly remembered why she got stuck here in the first place and turned her attention back to the small wooden crate. Hoping against hope that whatever was in there might actually help her get out, she rushed over to open the damn thing, revealing...
