I didn't dare raise my arms from my sides or flex a single muscle against the two towering yellow globes that swallowed me from the waist down, held tight around my legs by a familiarly gray shirt just ahead. I saw everything outside, the starry sky and the desert fluctuate into the hills beyond the city's boundaries, but I didn't process them as fear took a hold of my veins, squeezing sweat from my pores.

I didn't bother to look around for any clocks to check up on the time, but eventually, I could tell by the minutes being piled on my shoulders that it was somewhere over half an hour until she finally decided to move, grunting as she pushed up off her seat and stood tall.
