Chapter #6

Easier to ask for Forgiveness

    by: Redhand Author IconMail Icon
Mark knew that this probably wasn't the best of ideas, but couldn't help wanting to test out his portal device already. Kate seemed like a rather innocent and sweet girl which also made her a rather safe person to test this with. Yeah, she would probably be a bit taken aback when somehow he appeared bypassing her password completely, but she seemed rather cool and Mark was sure she'd understand. If she didn't well, he could just portal back and no real harm done. After all if all he ever did was ask for permission he wouldn't have his own portal device, so taking a risk and just doing it had worked for him so far and he was reaping the rewards.

As Mark continued to chat he started up his portal device which got to work cracking the chat's security and Kate's password, Mark didn't expect it to take all that long.

"So not going to give up that password huh?"

"Sorry, I thought I'd give it a try, but the more I think about it the more it just freaks me out. Its not you or anything its me. I mean, I wouldn't want to accidentally hurt you or anyone else that came though."

"No problem, just thought I'd ask."

Mark sighed as his device continued it worked as his last attempt at getting the password the old fashion way fell though. Kate and Mark kept chatting for a bit longer, until the small *PING* went off next to Mark, the password had been cracked and the way was clear. This was it now or never.

"Well, its been fun chatting Kate, but I have to head out for now. cya"

"Yeah it was alot of fun, later."

Mark exited the chat his portal device already connected to Kate's url. He reached over picking it up and pressing the button a flash of white taking over his world for a moment as he passed though the portal. An instant later that light vanished and he found himself some place new, the ground now a dull brown wood with a light shine giving away that it was cheaply lacquered most likely a desk. Mark heard the loud striking thumbing of massive fingers striking giant keys in the distance. He made his way out of the shadow of what he figured to be Kate's keyboard and saw the girl he'd been chatting with for the first time.
