Opening the thick oak door is a satyr! A short, half-human half-goat monster boy! This one was slightly older with a mustache, you prepared your strike instinctively but the monster just cowered in fear. "Oh! Don't hurt me! I don't want a-anything to do with enslaving...or feet, see?" He pointed downwards, a pair of hooves. That checks out, you thought to yourself. You put your hammer down. "Well, you won't mind housing me for the night? I am on a righteous quest, and sleeping near the forest is dangerous." The satyr agreed and introduced himself. "I am Matthias. A human gave me this cabin in exchange for a song."
You raised an eyebrow at that. Matthias made you a bowl of modest porridge and you sat around the fire. "So you're a bard?" You ask him. He confirms this and gestures to his collection of instruments. "A satyr's song is the tool given to us by the Monster King, it is indeed powerful, and many pay good gold for it. The human who gave me this cabin wanted a song for his beloved in return." This monster seemed friendly. It would be a perfect opportunity to gain some information.
