The Kitchen in the Everton household was a silent place. Sure there were people in it but they did not exchange words. Angela and James Everton were in their early 40's and were both rake thin. Barely a muscle in their bodies, the two them had lived a life of salads and mineral water. Yet right now they were cooking up a feast. The oven was filled with all manner of party food accompying a glazed ham the size of James's torso. Chicken wings, onion rings, spring rolls, chips of every variety of more ribs than keys on a piano filled the oven. On the kitchen counters were buckets of nibbles. Family size crisp bags were all opened up and dumped into a bucket only to have melted cheese and bbq sauce poured over them. Ice-cream was pried out of their frozen tubs to be tossed into a tray of whipped cream, chocolate pieces and fudge.
Yet despite preparing a feast worthy of the party of the centaury, there was no sign of celebrations from the couple. For just a few days ago, a school bus carrying their child and 20 other children had collided with a truck carrying experimental chemicals. Although thankfully no one was hurt as a result of the collision, all of them were exposed. During their time in hospital, the children began to put on weight to an absurd degree. Their bodies not only grew wider but taller in order to accommodate even more girth. Doctors noted increased bone density and muscle strength so that they can actually carry this excess weight. Their stomach acid was strong enough to melt through iron and their stomachs swelled out to something closer resembling a cows digestive system. In just 1 day these 20 children had completely emptied the hospital's food reserves, causing ambulances to be used to gather more food.
With no sign of a cure in sight, the children were eventually discharged. The doctors had told the parents that they needed to maintain the high calorie diet lest it cause distress to the children. They also suggested psychological encouragement, in order to avoid the children feeling alienated or consider themselves to be freaks. As far as challenges go though, this was by far the most difficult for the Everton's. For out of all the children involved, theirs had grown the biggest. Standing twice their height and weighing almost a ton, their child now made them feel like children. How could they possibly promote the idea that this inhuman scale was actually a good thing?
Loading the food onto a cart, the couple finally locked eyes before setting off. "You still want to do this. I mean, we could get hurt in the process" said James before Angela took his hand. "It isn't us we should be worried about. We need to prove that having such a large body is actually a good thing. That you can have fun and play all kinds of new games. Even if such games may result in several bruises for the two of us" said Angela, causing James to swallow nervously. Deciding to bite the bullet, they made their way to their child's room, ready to present them with a feast and encourage them to play some strange new games. To the sound of rattling plates and nervous panting, they arrived at their...
