Jack looked around, cheeks burning crimson. Absolutely sure that security guards were lurking to arrest the pair for this crime. Adam snorted a laugh seeing the horror and dread on Jack's face.
"No-one saw... no-one's coming." Throwing his arms wide, to gesture to the grand indifference of all the other shoppers. "I doubt anyone would care."
"Nah.... I ... I was just thought I saw someone I knew." he attempted to cover for his fear. Realising how weak and unconvincing it sounded, he tried again, "I mean, I was just looking out to see if there was any talent on display." His hands miming a full bust, to underline his meaning.
For the sake of ending the embarrassment, Adam pretended to agree. Dropping the discussion of the junk. He looked over the railing to get a wider view.
"You know I just wish there was a little more talent here." he muttered.
"It would be nice." Jack agreed, his hand taking the wand as he muttered the words.
Snatching it from Adam's hand, he thrust it in the nearby bin. The odd electric shock he received, he dismissed as a thorn, or some other irrelevant factor. Driving it deep down into the papery waste, so he wouldn't try to take it back.
"Hey!" Adam protested. "That was mine!"
"No!" Jack growled in a low threatening whisper, "You stole it!" he snarled. However, their words were uttered and the magic had been agreed, and cast.
