Pre Case One

It was the crack of dawn, and Hajime Hinata woke up from his deep, silent sleep because of an announcement, and a voice that made Hajime shiver. "Goood morning everyone! It is now 7 a.m.!"

Hajime grabbed his pillow and covered his ears, denying the fact that this was reality. He thought back on the sunshine yesterday afternoon that had came before the storm, and how the storm brought a monochromatic bear, named Monokuma, to the calm island they were imprisoned in. He thought back on how his "teacher" had tried protecting her students, yet met her grim demise. He thought back on that one bullet that had missed that teacher, the bullet that tore through the skin on his cheek and made him bleed real blood. Hajime touched where the bullet hit to see if the incident was fake. Nope, still there. He could feel the bump of where the dried up blood was, and sighed. So much for fake.

He stood up and stretched, ready to start the day as best as he could in his pit of sadness. He flattened his wrinkled shirt, slipped on his red and white sneakers, and switched his green tie for another of the same type that was in his closet. Just as he opened the door to the outside, he ran right into Kazuichi. Literally. The two topple down to the ground and scream, thinking the other was Monokuma or some kind of attack.

"W-woah! Watch where you're going, dude!" Kazuichi yells.

"Sorry. But I could say the same for you, I don't know why you were right in front of my door." Hajime stands up, holds out a hand for the pink-haired teen beneath him, and he grabs it.

"Well, I was just coming to get you," He claims. "I wanted to get some food before everyone else, but it seems like a lot of people were already there and talking around something. They said for me to come get the others, so here I am!"

Hajime nods. Something must have happened if they were gathered so early in the morning. He thanks Kazuichi and walks to the restaurant, where a circle of people were gathered. In the middle, the same bear that had made the announcement and the one that shot his teacher was standing and talking in his annoying voice.

"We have said once, and we will say it again, we will not fall into your despair, or your motives." The Ultimate Affluent Progeny, Byakuya Togami, speaks. Hajime breaks through the crowd and turns to him.

"What's happening? And why is Monokuma here?" He says, enunciating the name with disgust.

Byakuya points to Monokuma, who's smiling his dopey smile. "The bear wants us to kill as soon as possible, so he's came up with a motive for us. I've told him we won't comply though."

"Puhuhuhuhu!" Monokuma breaks into hysterics. "You really think you have a choice in this? My motive won't take no for an answer, plus this one is soooo much cooler than the other ones I had planned. Who needs to know about the safety of your family when you got... this!" He whips out a large red button, larger than his own head, and cackled like it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen. Everyone in the restaurant just stared though, not knowing what the button was for.

"Um... that's just a button." The red haired photographer, Mahiru Koizumi, states. Hiyoko Saionji, the Ultimate Traditional Dancer and demon child, nods along, laughing at Monokuma. This makes him flush just as red as the button and mutter a few... choice words.

"This isn't just any red button! I got this puppy from the depths of hell, and it wants to break free!"

The Ultimates still looked at him with confusion. Did Monokuma really expect them to be scared of some little button? But even Hajime had wondered what it did. Knowing Monokuma, it could easily be the button to a new world. At that moment, a tall, white-haired boy crawls through the crowd and stands near the ahoged boy.

"I'm sorry I'm late!" Nagito Komaeda smiled. "What's he doing?"

Hajime smiles, happy to see a (semi) familiar face in this chaos, but all he could do was shake his head "I don't know-"

"I'm about to make you bastards switch bodies, you idiot! And man, you're late! You missed my whole speech!" Monokuma freaked out. The other students flinched and stepped backwards. Switch bodies? Was that kind of thing possible, or was he just giving out an excuse? Some of the weaker teens cower with their hands above their heads, while the stronger ones clenched their fists or grabbed their weapons. Hajime, even though he wasn't as strong as Peko Pekoyama or Nekomaru Nidai, he couldn't take that chance of himself being separated with his own body. In one swift movement, he tried to run forward and grab the button, but the black-and-white bear was too fast for him, and he just fell face forward. The sound of Monokuma's laughter rang out while Hajime just layed on the floor, dazed and sore. He felt a cold liquid drip on his right cheek, and noticed his cut from yesterday had been opened again. "A little quicker, mystery boy, and I would have lost my motive! But oh well, here goes!"

All of a sudden, the blaring sound of the cherry-red button being pressed rang through each students ears, and pitch black surrounded them. It felt like eternity before it ended, though it couldn't have taken more than a few seconds. After his senses were back to normal, Hajime lowered his hands from his ears and opened his eyes.

Wait.

These weren't his real hands. His normal hands were long and a little bit tanned, and his clothing?! The white t-shirt and his beloved green tie were missing and instead were swapped with unfamiliar clothes. A single thought dawned on Hajime Hinata, and he gasped. Was Monokuma true to his word? Were they really in different bodies? Hajime started running to get the nearest clean plate, wobbling a bit as he does so, and in the reflection was someone that was definitely not himself. Instead, it was...
