"Ben, I think I've got something. There's another link between these missing girls. They're all RICH. Look at these houses!" She pointed to file photos they had of their elaborate homes, all in the upscale parts of town. Mercedes and Bentleys glittered in immaculate driveways. "Huh," said Ben, sipping his coffee. "That's not surprising. This actually adds a little bit of motive to whoever our kidnappers would be."
"Well, it's the people at the Viper," said Mary.
"Correction, they were last seen at the Viper. But it could merely be the chosen target. Remember, the Viper is located about twenty yards from the exit onto the James Buchanan Parkway. Trafficking almost always occurs near a major highway so they can spirit them out of town," said Ben.
Mary shook her head. "But you said yourself, their wealth provides a motive. And considering who actually runs the Viper, it has to be a connection that these three victims have. I mean, we know Regina Petan, the first victim, is Morris Petan's long estranged daughter, and he built the headquarters for the Petan Bodybuilding Company right here in Valentine City. Mariko Hisamatsu, the immigrant, her boyfriend is a lead chemist at PharmaChem, one of the city's oldest and most prominent labs. Julia Lane is a huge Instagram influencer doing sponsorship deals with the City Tourism board and the Mayor's Office. Their wealth is directly related to the city's biggest names. And who do we know who has a problem with captains of industry in this town AND a shady backstory?"
Ben leaned back in his chair. Having been there on a couple of occasions, he paused as he remembered the face of the owner of the Viper:
