Mai threw away the empty cans of soda and waddled towards the refrigerator for a new one. Living in Valentine for ten years, the culture surrounding the city has had a huge impact on Mai. Her enormous belly made it difficult for her to move as it often got her stuck figuratively and literally. Any shirt she bought who become to small for her within several months, stretching out further, exposing her huge belly. Thankfully, after rising through the ranks, Mai landed into her current position as police chief of the VPD. This allowed her not only to continue to indulge in high-calorie foods, but didn't interfere with her line of work.
Looking at the time on her phone, it read "7:14 AM" and she "quickly" buttoned up her dress shirt and strapped on her suspenders and hopped into her car. Driving through the urban area, it was always awkward for Mai due to the looks from far more slim people than her. It doesn't help that with her role as police chief, anytime she went out to eat, she'd get stares of other people watching her chow down on family-sized meals in quick successions. She always use the highway because she wouldn't have annoying people glancing at her stuffing herself silly and she could pass by some stellar food joint on her way to work. Feeling hungry herself, she slowly rubbed her belly, giving it a smooth rub to quell her gut from rumbling. Out of nowhere, there was a new bar set up that served donuts and churros, her favorite.
"Oh that place looks good, but I gotta go to the police department, they got something they want to tell me." She looked at the time on her watch that read "7:36 AM". "I got some time to spare, maybe I can grab a quick bite?"
