Chapter #5and a Bear's Greed by: Unknown “Boo!”
Maria leaned her head back against the headrest to see whoever was looming over her, only for a pudgy, furry brown belly to block her vision. She only realized what she was looking at when the bear leaned forward, revealing his smirking face. By this point, it was already too late to flee; she already felt two huge paws grab her by the sides, lifting her up out of her chair with terrifying ease. She yelped at the sudden ascent, until she was hugging against the bear’s soft, pillowy belly. She felt a bit of drool drip down onto her cheek as the bear audibly licked his lips, signifying that he was, of course, not actually just a costumed millionaire, but an actual natural-born predator. She should be surprised by this, but really, once she had felt the bear’s immense paws, there wasn’t a doubt in her mind that she had somehow run into a real, anthropomorphic bear. She’d have time to go over hows and whys later -- right now, all she could focus on was her primitive fight-or-flight instinct.
The bear simply chuckled as she began to fight back in earnest, her kicks bouncing off his belly like a drum and her hands unable to pry the bear’s claws away. Still, he was impressed by how calm and calculated she was in her attempts. She was smart; if given enough time, should could’ve definitely come up with an escape plan, but the bear provided her no such luxury. Being herbivorous, the taste of meat had been a special treat for the cow -- but being a carnivore himself, the bear was bored by the taste of meat, and more interested in the delightful squirminess of live prey. She’d go down much faster than her friend had; indeed, Maria could already feel the warm breath of the ursine atop her head as he parted his jaws.
The bear took a deep breath, and with a single, mighty shove, his wide, muscular throat easily accepting her head and shoulders. All of her escape plans were immediately forgotten as panic and shock overtook her reasoning, and she began to kick and punch wildly at the air, with no rhyme or reason. This, of course, failed to aid her situation; and with another mighty gulp, she was up to her elbows in the tight, wet confines. As the bear paused, seemingly amused by her struggles, Maria tried to calm herself, trying to come up with another plan while she still could. She tried to brace her arms against the sides of the bear’s mouth, blockading her descent into the anthro’s belly. This actually worked for a while… until, of course, the bear got frustrated and simply moved her arms out of the way with sheer overwhelming strength. As her arms were pressed against her sides, restraining her upper body completely, Maria realized it was far too late to escape now. Maybe an opportunity would present itself when she reached the stomach, but as far as her current circumstances… she was out of luck.
To the bear’s surprise, Maria decided to go gracefully, relaxing and letting her legs be slurped up like a noodle by the hungry carnivore. She was too disoriented and dizzy at this point to come up with any coherent plan anyway. Seeing her amusing struggles had ended, it only took a few seconds more for the bear to finish off his meal completely. Being a carnivore, the bear’s stomach was even more miserable than the cow’s; not that she’d have such a basis for comparison. It was hotter, tighter, and more worryingly, she was already up to her chest in the caustic liquids. Maria whimpered, trying her best to keep her head above the liquid, even as the bear shaked and jostled her prison for his own amusement. As she settled in, though, she realized something even her observant mind hadn’t noticed before. There was already another trick-or-treater in here!
She seemed to be dressed as a vampire or something, although her costume was completely ruined by this point. Compared to the confused and wide-eyed new arrival, the other trick-or-treater looked cynical and defeated in comparison. “H-how long have you been in here!?” Maria managed to yell over the surprisingly loud gurgling and churning of the bear’s stomach.
“Я не говорю по английски,” The girl replied, speaking in a panicked tone in an indecipherable language while Maria sat there, uncomprehending. The other girl definitely didn’t look, nor sound, like she came from remotely nearby. Could it be that… she isn’t? Maria’s heart sunk as she finally put two and two together, and realized the true nature of this place. She had heard rumors -- impossible rumors, she thought -- that Vampyre Lane wasn’t actually a physical place, but another realm overlapping reality. A realm only accessible on Halloween night, and only to those with a sufficient desire to find it. Indeed, this entire neighborhood was a spider’s web -- designed to lure naive humans into the jaws of these monsters. The second she walked inside, she was already doomed…
Meanwhile, the bear let out an unbelievably loud, nasty belch as yet another satisfying meal settled inside his now bulging belly. He turned, sitting his completely nude, pudgy body down on the same dusty chair Maria had been relaxing in, the wood cracking beneath his weight. He licked his lips as he rubbed his paws over his gut, feeling the movement of two whole humans within. While most anthros would be more than satisfied with this arrangement, the gluttonous bear’s Halloween fun was still far from over. Even now, he still had room for one or two more trick-or-treaters before he was completely stuffed. It would probably be terrible for his health, of course… but doesn’t he deserve to splurge, every once in awhile? After all, everyone needs a treat on Halloween…
┄┄┄
Even while all this was occurring, you were completely unaware of everything that had happened to your friends, so wrapped up were you in the maniacal mansion’s elaborate puzzle. For a while, you had been on the verge of giving up, believing the machinations of the manor to be complete nonsense… eventually, though, you started to see the purpose behind every nook and cranny, every out-of-place book and uncalibrated grandfather clock. You were fortunately always fascinated by riddles and such, and thus, you were the first one to have the diligence to see the manor’s puzzle through to the end, even as an untold amount of time passed. Eventually, you had figured everything out and put it all in its proper place, and right before your eyes, one last secret passageway opened up in the wall of the main chamber.
You stepped curiously through, raising a hand as your eyes adjusted to the sudden onslaught of light, only to find yourself in a much more homely little room. The ‘canine’ gal from before was standing on the other end, and you averted your eyes with a blush when you realized all of her outer clothing was gone, and only her weird animal costume remained. You couldn’t tell if she was simply wearing body paint or what, but even nude, her costume was… disturbingly detailed. She giggled at your innocence, as she slowly draws closer. “Congratulations. You finished our little puzzle,” she said in a genuinely creepy voice now, all her previous light-heartedness completely disappeared. “Honestly, I thought nobody would be able to manage it this year.”
You tried to back up from the canine, only to run into a strange, pillowy, furry surface. You turned around, letting out a startled little squeal as you saw the cow lady towering over you, her belly uncannily rounded. “It’s almost a shame, sugar. You looked tasty…” The cow said, crossing her arms with a smile. You could hardly believe your eyes as you saw hand prints bulging out against the sides of the cow’s belly. That couldn’t possibly be part of the costume. Could it be…?
You backed away from the cow, too, only to once again run into another anthro’s distended belly. This time, you turned to see a massive bear, smiling at you with a disturbingly toothy grin, showing off his fangs. “Your friends certainly were…” He taunted, rubbing a hand over his huge stomach. For a moment, you could clearly see Maria’s face imprint against the side, and it felt like your heart had stopped in your chest. You became light-headed as the simple truth of the situation flooded you; these monsters were real, and they have devoured your friends. And, judging by the look on the canine's face, you were next on the menu.
“W-why them?” was all you could ask, tears forming as the three massive anthros circled you.
“Because they gave up. You persevered. You found a way to the final chamber of the mansion,” the canine smirked, just a few feet away from you now. “But now… you have to find the way out. And I’ll be right behind you every step of the way...” Suddenly, she leaped forward, trying to pounce on top of you! You dodged her attack by inches, your flight-or-flight instincts sending you sprinting away wildly, with no knowledge of where you were going. The bear and cow simply stood there, laughing as they watched the canine chase you through the darkened hallways of the manor on all fours.
You had figured out the first half of your trial, but the true test of survival had only just begun... You have the following choice: 1. Continue |
