Amber was the office secretary for Peter Korbel the owner of a rather successful used cars chain. He only came into the office three times a week and outside that he relied on his personal secretary, Bonnie Benson. Amber hated Bonnie, she was stuck up and rude and often stonewalled her on so many things that affected her job. What's worse is Mr Korbel often took Bonnie's side on any argument.
A week ago Bonnie failed to show up to work, which just caused Mr Korbel more stress and as such Amber too. She was now filling in for Bonnie and doing her old job, while also assisting the police with their inquiries into Bonnie's disappearance. Mr Korbel often got angry at her for not doing things they way Bonnie would and needing to explain the finer details to her, as Amber was still learning the job.
Today was a calmer day as it was one of the office days. Amber was thankful as while she still had to take care of the personal tasks, they were pushed aside for her usual roles. Still she never thought she'd see the day where she'd miss Bonnie Benson.
"Excuse me, I'm here to see mister Korbel," an older woman snuck up on Amber as she was doing her office duties. Amber eyed off the woman, her clothes were a little worn and judging by her appearance she didn't look like she could afford a car, even a used one.
"Name?" Amber asked as she pulled up the personal contact list for Mr Korbel, she knew that this lady wasn't from the business side of things.
"Why am I always being asked for my name?" the lady complained before she glared at Amber. "Oh you're new, forgive me but you secretaries all look the same." Amber was a little offended to be compared to Bonnie in such a fashion.
"I've worked for Mr. Korbel for over a year now!" Amber retorted more aggressively that she should have.
"Then you should know my name," the woman shot back as she went to move towards Mr Korbel's door.
"I'm sorry ma'am but I don't know who you are or the purpose of your visit. Mr Korbel isn't seeing anyone right now." Amber looked at her computer to confirm that there were no appointments booked. "If you'd like to make an appointment..."
The older woman raised her and Amber went silent, not by choice but because her mouth was no longer there. "I am here to collect a debt owed to me young lady," the woman said annoyed. "You will let me pass or do you want to end up like your predecessor,?" The old lady reached into her hand bag and pulled out a jam jar. She placed it on Amber's desk and walked into Mr Korbel's office.
Amber's eyes went wide open in disbelief, inside the Jar was Bonnie. She was just as tall as the jar but had put on so much weight, she almost filled the contents of the jar. Bonnie looked up at Amber with tears in her eyes. As much as Amber hated the woman she couldn't bare to see her like that. She opened up the jar and reached down and tried to pull Bonnie out, though she was too big to fit through the opening.
Amber felt a hand slap her as the old woman took the jar away and secured the lid. "I showed you that to teach you a lesson in manners, not to set her free." She put the jar back in her handbag and then returned Amber's mouth. "As my new employee, it's my job to discipline you it make sure this kind of behaviour doesn't happen again, luckily I have just the thing in mind." The lady began to chant before blowing dust into Amber's face.
The dust restored Amber's mouth but it also left her with a curse, she was now cursed to... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
