Mistress Midna wanted excitement, and what could be more exciting than watching someone get chased? Combining their magic, they turn what should've been a straightforward tunnel into a complex cave system full of dead ends and no markers. They then get into position for their part.

Link was confused. He's taken this path before, it should've been a straight path from one end to another. But Link felt like he had been walking for hours. At points he thought he even saw separate tunnels. He had already emptied his only bottle of oil into his lantern, so this was it. That was when he heard it.
Howling. From two different directions he heard wolf howling. He reached for his sword, only to find himself grasping at air. Little did he know, two mischievous wolves had taken his sword and slingshot and put them at the exit of the cave, leaving him defenseless until he escaped and increasing the fear and intensity of the situation, making it more fun.
Link heard scratching and sniffing echo through the cave. They were hunting for him, and he had no way of fighting them. He knew he had to get out before one of them finds him. He began taking branching paths to try and find the exit.
