Your thoughts are disrupted as Emily casually enters your room in a way that left you gobsmacked.
Silent and swift, the android phases through your wall and a bookshelf without concern, emitting a blue glow surrounding her.
Your eyes are wide and your mouth is open as you witness a function that you didn't think was possible. Although you were astonished, Emily looks at you sadly and opens her mouth while collapsing her hands together in front.
"Listen, Andrew...I know this is all sudden for you, but-"
You interrupt her, more interested in how she has appeared before you. "How?!"
Emily is a little surprised and then realizes you are shocked by her entrance. "I am an advanced model which supports many functions and phasing through inorganic obstacles are one of them. This feature is only available for law enforcement though."
You blink a couple of times as you hear her plain explanation and didn't miss her last part. "Wait...then how did my dad get you?"
Emily hums. "I'm not sure. There must have been a mixup when I was delivered to the store. In any case, it won't prohibit my task to take care of you."
Back at the matter at hand, you close your mouth leaving your curiosity for another time. Although you want to get angry for her intrusion, you can't seem to after witnessing her phasing which you thought is only possible in science fiction novels.
It would seem that technology has advanced farther with these androids underneath your nose. You couldn't recall seeing any news article about this "phasing" technology.
Looking down, you bite your lips for a moment before heaving another sigh. "Look, Emily...I'm sorry, but...it's just too much for me. I know my father means well, but I don't need a caretaker or a companion at the moment."
Emily provides a sad smile. Despite being an android, she seemed to know how to appropriately respond with her facial expressions.
