This choice: before he can ansewer, Eirika interrupts them. She has been looking for the two. • Go Back...Chapter #8Three's company by: Kooplan "Colm! Neimi!" A feminine voice calls out for the duo.
"Hmm?" Neimi wipes the remaining tears from her eyes and sees that it was Eirika, the princess of Renais and leader of the army, who was shouting for her and Colm. She brightens up from seeing the commanding officer, and waves to her, giggling.
"Oh no..." Colm mumbles to himself, turning his back to the young woman and hiding his face in his hands. He'd just found something that might be worth a pretty penny to the right person, but if Eirika knew about it, he might have to hand it over instead of keeping the goods for himself.
"What's going on here?" Eirika asked the two as she neared them. The green-haired young swordswoman smiled warmly at them. Apparently the battle before had gone very well.
Colm opened his mouth to speak, but before he could get a word out, Neimi suddenly cried out.
"I'm so sorry about the bracelet, Colm!" Neimi cried, again her eyes dampening as her tear gates began to overflow. She whimpered through her weeping, "It's like if I lost my mother's mirror!"
"Neimi..!" Colm sighed, shaking his head. He had to admit it was sometimes amusing how easily the young girl could burst into tears, but at the moment it was downright frustrating. His chance at keeping things a secret was out the window, just like that. Still, he could tell she was truly apologetic for all the trouble she'd caused with the bracelet.
"What's this about a bracelet?" Eirika asked, suddenly sounding less then enthused.
"It's none of your business." Colm answered, keeping the bracelet on his arm cover inside his cloak. Eirika frowned at his attitude. She was used to it by now, but the mention of Colm doing bad dealings with bracelets was something that was all too familiar to her. She wanted to give the boy the benefit of the doubt, but he wasn't making it easy.
"I-I shattered one of the gems on a bracelet that Colm found!" Neimi cried out, half in explanation, half in apology. She stood still sobbing into her arm.
"Neimi!" Colm yelled at her again, this time it was impossible for him to keep the anger out of his tone. Eirika picked up on it, and with a raised eyebrow, she inquired.
"Colm? What's she talking about?"
"N-Nothing!" Colm insisted, throwing his arms out in frustration. This small action ended up giving Eirika a good view of the bracelet in question, as it was still latched onto the thief's arm. Colm's face reddened when he realized his mistake, and he hastily went to move his arm back under his cloak. Unfortunately for him, Eirika was faster. She grabbed his arm and looked at the pretty bracelet.
"Hey!" Colm protested and tried to shake her off, but she was much too strong for him to do so.
"So this is it..?" Eirika said, examining the thing closely. She noticed that one of the jewels on the bracelet did appear to be missing. "It's quite magnificent..." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
