"Cassandra!" The little cub squeaked and jumped as she heard her mother calling, frantically walking into the room while pulling on a coat. "Come on dear, you're going to be late for school!"
Cassandra's mother was basically an adult version of her, except slimmer with brown fur instead of Cassandra's blonde. She sometimes worried about the thought of her fluffy little daughter would get too big one day, but she loved her so much she would give her whatever she wanted.
"But mommy," Cassandra protested, reaching more for the cereal box, "still hungry..."
Her mother grabbed the box and put it back up on the shelf. "I've made you a lunch, now get your bag." She hoisted her little cub off the table and handed her a little pink lunchbox with pictures of hearts and stars and other stuff a girl her age might like.

The fox cub stared intently at the lunchbox on her lap, licking her lips. She had to at least see what her mom made! Cassandra wiped the drool off her maw, her round belly letting out a powerful rumble.
"Now now sweetheart," her mother tutted playfully, smiling and closing the box back over, "wait till lunchtime, then you can stuff your little face."
"But mooooom," the fox whined softly, rubbing her grumbling belly, "my tummy wants it noooow..."
"Well it'll just have to wait then," her mother said matter-of-factly, stroking her little girl's head and making her tail wag very fast.
"I'll see you later sweetie," Cassandra's mother smiled softly, giving her daughter a small kiss on the forehead before letting her go off into the school playground. She looked around for her friends amongst the other animal kids talking and playing, wincing gently as her tummy let out another loud grumble.
"Mmff," the cub whined gently, blushing softly and rubbing her empty belly, "mom said to wait till lunch time, but I'm so hungry..."
Poor Cassandra had a tough choice to make, especially when she'd just found her friends hanging around a large fully-leaved tree. Their usual hangout. She grinned at them, then looked down at her lunchbox while licking her lips. She had to make a choice...
