But what Jim didn't know was that this doll...

Jim returned home and showed the doll to his daughter, Megan was twelve years old and had red hair like the doll, it was one of the first things he noticed about it. “Hey princess this is buttons” Jim said displaying the doll.” “Oh! Thank you, daddy. I love her, she kind of looks like me.” She said excitedly, as she inspected the doll. “Yeah, you could be sisters.” Jim said in agreement, Megan scurried to her room, and gave her a tour of the room.

Days passed with nothing out of the ordinary happening, unbeknownst to Megan or her parents the warnings about the doll were true, a sinister presence resided in the doll, waiting and watching. It started by creating a link with Megan, which would bind them together in a supernatural way. It manifested when one day, Megan felt the desire to change her hairstyle to match Buttons.

A little while after Buttons thought it was time to make its presence know. It would begin changing Megan’s body, but it couldn’t decide how it wanted to go about it. It could be more direct and introduce itself to Megan personally, which might be riskier, but is much more rewarding as it tempts her soul into corruption. Or it could be more subtle, changing her when she is unaware, making the changes more worrying, which is safer, but not as fun, and if it is found out, who knows.

In the end it didn’t matter too much, because Buttons could always change things up down the line.
