“What?” You yell when mom finishes her sentence.
“You’re acting like a bratty little kid, so I think it’s only fitting,” Your mother explained. “Besides, Tina got excellent grades this year, so I think she’s earned a reward; we’ll kill two birds with one stone.”
“You’re gonna reward Diaper Girl by putting me in dresses?” You demand.
Mom shook her head, “That’s another thing; since you find diapers hilarious, I bet you’ll get a big kick out of wearing them yourself.”
“There is no way in Hell,” You protest. “I’m going along with any of this insanity!”
“You listen here, young man!” Your mother exclaimed. “You need an attitude adjustment, and your sister needs some confidence, so either you’ll do as I say, or come the fall, you’re going to correctional school!”
You raise an eyebrow, “What, like boot camp?”
“Yes,” Mom smiled. “I already found a place. Southside Reform School for Boys.”
“Southside?” You repeat. “That’s three towns away!”
“And,” Mom nodded, “They do pickup. I’ve researched Southside; no electronics, cameras everywhere, no leaving campus without permission, corporal punishment, daily drills, uniforms, and all the teachers are trained in discipline.”
“What does that mean?” You demand.
“It means,” Your mother clarified. “Get an answer wrong, and you do ten push-ups, and if you mouth off to a teacher, it’ll be the obstacle course.” Mom pulls a folded paper out of her pocket and gives it to you, “Take a look.”
You glanced over the paper, and Southside looked straight out of a horror movie. You pointed to a nearly bald young man in a camouflaged jumpsuit, “Is that look required?”
“That’s the uniform,” Mom clarified. “And they have a barber.”
“There is no way,” You push the pamphlet back at your mother. “I’m going there.”
“Then,” Mom summarized. “You’ll be Tina’s six-year-old sister Jenny for the summer.”
“I’m not doing that either!” You argue.
“Then come September,” Mom shot back. “Two big men are going to be breaking down your door.”
“Let them try,” You boast, “I’m going to bed.”
“Fine!” Your mother declared. “Tina’s at a sleepover until the day after tomorrow, so after breakfast either Jenny’s going shopping with me or Jason’s getting enrolled!”
“Whatever, you crazy lady!” You shout down before closing your door.
