"That's nice of you to offer," the big dog said between bites of Mac and Cheese. "But it's a pretty big commitment taking care of a growing fur. Hell, some supersized furs in this city have whole teams of furs looking out for them!"
"Hey, I think I'd be committed!" Evan said.
"Sure, but we just met the other day, so I'm not sure if you're really all that committed," replied Derrick. "Besides, I said I'm only thinking about getting bigger."
"I mean, you're right that we've only just met," Evan said. "But I want to help! Is there anything I can do to prove to you that I'm in it for the long haul?"
Derrick paused and thought for a few moments. "Well, I feel pretty big right now, especially when I see a skinny fur like you. But I'm sure that once I stop feeling so large, I'll want to balloon up again."
"So, what do you mean?" the lion asked.
"Think about that and use your imagination. Now, could you pass me the gravy?"

Thoughts of the obese dog consumed Evan's mind as he tired to sleep that night. The lion had been obsessed with Derrick since he first laid eyes on the enormous mutt, and that obsession only deepened when he learned about the German Shepard's aspirations of getting even larger. Evan closed his eyes and imagined the dog ridiculously fatter, a proverbial mountain of pudge, limbs and neck swallowed up by thick layers of fat, rolls spilling out over the edges of his bed. The lion's mouth dried and heart raced as he dreamt of an impossibly obese German Shepherd and as his loins stirred to life.
Evan didn't just want to see Derrick get fatter; he needed to see Derrick get fatter.
The lion began conspiring how to go about fattening the dog. Simply offering his help didn't do it. Evan remembered what the German Shepherd said: If he felt small, then he'd want to fatten up even bigger. So, how could he make Derrick, already so huge, feel small?
More importantly, Derrick said that he wanted committed help. Evan could understand why. The big dog would be in trouble if he grew to be an immobile blob and the only fur that was there to help him flaked out.
"Is there a way I can kill two birds with one stone?" Evan asked himself. "Show how willing I am to stay and help Derrick grow while at the same size get the dog to feel like he needs to fatten up even more?"
