Ray may've been upset at his current circumstances, but he understood that they're worried too. Surely they wouldn't have done this if the situation wasn't so dire, right? Ray decided that if he were to solve this issue, then he'd have to make sure his family had enough food to make it, even if he lived with them! Unfortunately, that might be easier said than done. Everyone else is struggling due to the recent drought, and many of them are gonna be more inclined to hoarding the food for themselves.
However, recently a guild has entered town. This guild promises to help out the residents of Juniper Town, from making sure there's a steady supply of food here, to potentially finding out the cause of this drought. He figured these guys might be able to help out his family, though just looking at them earlier, Ray noticed that there were already many Pokémon running towards them asking for help. The Riolu already doubted that he'd be able to get a request in for his family in a timely manner, let alone wait long enough for the food to arrive. If he were to make a difference with those guys, then maybe he'd have to work alongside them and get some compensation...
He also heard rumors about an underground market hoarding some food in anticipation for the eventual famine. They seemed to expect to make a lot of money out of whatever they can scrounge up. Ray might not have a lot of money right now, but maybe if he could find that market soon, he could either get the food at a discount, or maybe he could work out a deal? Heck, they were bad guys, maybe he could get away with taking some of their food for himself?
Or, heck, those guild guys were probably gonna grab some food from a different area to keep the area safe. What'd stop him from taking some of that food himself? He heard of a forest far west, though the citizens seemed weary about going that way. It's a long way away, there aren't a lot of rations for a travel, and some seemed to believe the path over held some dangerous outlaws. Few said what was actually in the forest, but it's apparently fairly fertile.
Ray had a few options available, but not a lot of time to do them. If he were to make a decision, he'd have to make it fast.
