This choice: You accept Paris's "offer." • Go Back... In the end, Paris had managed to convince you to say yes. All in all, it hadn't been all too bad. Though, you hadn't had to deal with the scientist's stomach for all too long. Through a combination of Paris's size (and speed) and your knowledge of the local area, the larger-than-elephantine wolf managed to find himself a test subject rather quickly. What proved difficult was getting you out. He managed it, of course, but both you and Paris learned that Paris really did not like having to cough stuff up.
But that was several months ago. Since then, things have been rather pleasant,
even if Paris still had yet to tell you what he was researching. True to your word, you began to act as Paris's assistant and, much to your pleasure, you found that you could also continue your bounty hunting. So long as you made sure to bring something back to prove the target was dead, you could claim the bounties. As for what happened to your targets... Sometimes, you took care of it. Other times, you were able to be both a bounty hunter and research assistant by getting your target to follow you to Paris. And then there were those two targets where you got Paris to go to them. Now that had been a sight to see.
Paris himself was just as strange as always. He was somewhat blunt and had a tendency to sound like he was ordering a servant when he was telling you to do something. That being said, he sometimes seemed to have something resembling an interest in your current state. When you mentioned sleep at one point, he show you a little place (it was literally just somewhere to sleep when he felt like it) that he off-handedly mentioned you could use, should you require it. It was now home to a small garden (courtesy of Paris) that would eventually provide a small harvest. Small, but it would be enough for a singular herbivore like yourself.
However, things have been a bit different these past couple days. You have been bedridden due to a rather nasty illness. It was something like the flu, but it certainly felt worse. Paris himself has been busy doing... something? He'd been in and out, working on whatever it was that peeked his fancy. At least, that's what you assumed until yesterday. Yesterday, you overheard Paris muttering to himself. Something about it not being right or something (or someone) not dying on him. Or course, you could easy figure out who Paris had been talking about. It also explains your current situation.
Paris (currently in a relatively you-sized anthro form) presses a cup into your hand-paw, "Drink this."
You give it a sniff. It smelled like chemicals and just a hint of mint, "What is it?"
"Medicine. It should cure you, given a couple days of rest. It also includes an agent that encourages sleep. You've been restless and having trouble sleeping since this started."
"Will it work?"
"I'm 95% certain of it," Paris replies, not unlike he normally does.
You shake your head and down the liquid, wincing at its flavor, "Mmm, tasty... You know, Paris. Keep stuff like this up and you might just convince me that you care about me."
It didn't take long for Paris's medicine to take effect and for you to pass out. After assuring himself that, yes, you are asleep, Paris looks you over, thinking. He sighs, "I care about you? To be honest, I should have just been done with you months ago. Would have advanced my research and you wouldn't be distracting me from said research. But... Your wit. Dry humor. The fact that, when I let you go, you kept your word and didn't just vanish on me. You aren't even bothered about being near me in my preferred form anymore. So, do I care about you?" He paused, then chuckled to himself, indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
