His students, the Black Eagles!

Byleth knew that if he wanted to survive a month at this size, he needed help from one of his students. Fortunately, from his personal quarters, he was relatively close to where his students would be at this time of day.
Of all the students, the one closest in proximity would be Bernadetta. Byleth knew she would be hiding in her room like she always did. He wasn't sure how much help she would be though. Bernie was scared of everything and everyone. If she heard a voice without seeing the speaker, she would probably think her room was haunted. If she saw his tiny form, she might pass out thinking he was a bug or a mouse before she recognized him.
If he didn't go for Bernadetta, he could likely find Dorothea in her room as well. It was early in the day, so she was probably putting her makeup on and getting dressed to make sure she caught the attention of every guy she walked past. He knew Dorothea would take good care of him if she found him, but for that to happen she would have to notice him. She had a tendency to sing to herself when in her room, and which would make yelling her name difficult. And, as much as it embarrassed Byleth to think this, he had a feeling that Dorothea's.... assets would make it a bit harder for her to see something down at her feet.
If he was willing to make a longer trek, there was also Petra and Edelgard. He wasn't certain, but if he had to guess he figured Petra would be training in the training area just a bit north of his room, and Edelgard would likely be doing some work in the Black Eagles classroom.
If he chose Petra, he was sure the kind foreign girl would do her best to aid him. However, he worried that the language barrier may cause her to misunderstand what she wanted from him. Plus, if she was training, it would be hardest of all to get her attention.
If he chose Edelgard, he'd have to make a pretty long trek, but she would likely be the best person to help him of all. She was smart, resourceful, and had the resources of the entire Adrestian empire at her disposal. And Byleth knew she liked him a lot. If anything, she might have liked him too much.
