Chapter #4The Soccer Struggle (Part Two) by: Unknown “Don’t kick the ball into Miss Hilda’s yard though, she doesn’t like us.” Maddie added. Following her finger, you noticed the adjacent house’s backyard was right near the tree. A ten-foot-tall fence blocked in Miss Hilda’s house from all sides, and there were two ‘NO TRESSPASSING’ signs hanging up.
“Who is Miss Hilda?” You wondered aloud. Maddie sighed as she set the soccer ball down and backed up ten feet from you.
“Our neighbor. She’s a teacher at the local high school, which is weird because I’m pretty sure she hates kids. She’s only, like 30 years old, but she keeps to herself all the time. I…uh…frequently kick things over her fence and into her pool on accident. I always apologize, but she keeps yelling all the same. Told me the next time I do it that she wouldn’t give whatever I kick over back. Which would SUCK.” Maddie cracked her knuckles and rolled her neck. “Basically, she's a jerk.”
Seeing her prepare to charge, you lowered yourself into a running stance, squaring up with the ball. Maddie had to stop herself from laughing, as you weren’t even visible from her perspective, entirely hidden behind the ball.
“We’ll start on three, Jake.” She announced loudly. “One, two, three!”
Right as her countdown ended, you dashed head on for the ball, running as fast as your legs could handle. This proved to be a hilariously bad mistake. By the time you were within a foot of the ball, Maddie had reached it AND kicked it, and the unyielding white and black checkered ball bowled you over, pressing your body flat and down into the grass.
Maddie was next, the titanic girl leaping forward to keep her momentum going as she guided the ball to the trash can. Her left foot rose above you, and her entire alluring body blocked out the sun momentarily, before her foot slammed down on you, crushing your head and sticking you into the grass and dirt.
The pain only lasted a second before she stepped off, but by the time you reformed and sat up, Maddie had already scored and was walking back with the ball in her hand, smiling down at you with a look of amusement and pity.
“Giving up yet?” She taunted. Thinking it appropriate considering her competitive nature, your answer was simply sticking out your tongue at her. Her eyes widened in surprise at your action, before her face broke into a genuine smile. It was that moment that you knew you’d officially been welcomed into the Smalls family by Maddie.
You squared up with Maddie again, but the second round went just as poorly as the first. You tried to catch the ball after Maddie’s kick, and succeeded in doing so to your surprise, but you hadn’t recovered before Maddie kicked it again, sending the ball and you crashing back into the trash can, squashing you flat.
When you reformed and began round three, you knew you needed a different tactic. Thinking quickly, you waited for Maddie’s signal and then stepped gracefully to the side. When she kicked the soccer ball, you leapt at it from the side, grabbing onto it and pushing it off towards the left. This messed up Maddie’s plan, and the brown-haired giantess actually slipped on the grass and fell behind you.
You couldn’t hold back a victorious laugh as you began furiously pushing the ball down towards the tree. At least, until you heard the ground shake as Maddie flipped onto her feet and came pounding back in your direction. Hearing her but not seeing her was a whole new level of terror, but there was no way you could quit with the tree in sight.
Maddie’s right leg came swinging at you from the side, and in a moment of genius, you ducked low, grabbed the ball from underneath, and jumped in the air. Her foot passed right under you, thankfully, and her missed kick gave you time to land back on the grass again and throw the ball, letting it roll the last few feet and tap the tree.
Your future sister-in-law was suitably impressed, but kept up the tireless pace. Resetting for round four, she held back this time, allowing you to approach the ball first for a change. Running up to the soccer ball, you started pushing it to the left, then curved around in the direction of the tree. Maddie casually walked forward to block your path, confident in her ability to halt your progress if she was really trying.
Once you got close enough to her, she merely stepped down onto the soccer ball, fulling halting its movement by just her one foot alone. However, you’d been planning for this, and so rolled out from behind the ball, scooped up the longest tree stick you could find in the grass, and poked it up into Maddie’s glistening right thigh.
You scraped gently at her toned thigh, just enough to elicit exactly the response you hoped for. Maddie gasped and fought down a laugh, a tickle attack the absolute last thing she’d possible expected. With her focus uneven, you shoved the ball out from under her foot, and rushed forward as Maddie lost her balance and fell onto her knees.
Pushing out from behind her, the tree was in sight and so was your second point. Kicking the soccer ball as hard as you could, it sailed right to the tree. Maddie threw herself backwards in an attempt to stop it, but missed, succeeding only in squashing you under her lean stomach. Thankfully, she noticed her mistake right away, though it did take her a moment to scratch your flattened squishy form off of her smooth, sweaty skin.
Resetting the ball, Maddie shook her head at you. “Dirty tactics, Jake.”
You shrugged. “I’m at a huge disadvantage here. I’d say it was a creative decision, not cheating.”
Maddie rolled her eyes. “Creative decision huh? Well, regardless…this is the last point. The winner is decided here. In three, two, one!”
While Maddie counted down, the backdoor swung open, and Kimberly walked out onto the porch. She was carrying a hefty bag of trash and leftover food garbage and was about to drop it into the trash can when she noticed your competition with Maddie heating up. Intrigued, she walked a little closer to view the action better, still holding the garbage bag.
Right as Maddie finished counting, you sprinted for the ball, getting it in your hands and veering right. Maddie jogged into your field of view, and you saw her prepare to head you off with a kick. Expecting this, you grabbed the ball tightly and stopped it in place, hoping Maddie would miss her kick and trip herself again.
You couldn’t have been more wrong. As soon as you stopped, you saw the smirk on Maddie’s face and realized you’d fallen into her trap. Stood still, you made an easy target, and Maddie wasted no more time in stomping down onto your body right her right foot, crushing you flat in an instant. On the porch, Kimberly nodded approvingly.
Removing her foot, Maddie gave your mashed body a sympathetic smile. “Sorry, dude, but I don’t give anyone anything for free. You put up a hell of a good match, honestly. It’s been fun, but I’m competitive through and through, and I do what I need to to win. Call it…a creative decision!” She grinned and winked at you, before pulling back her leg for the mother of all kicks. From her stance, it was clear she was trying to hit the ball to the trash can in one move.
With the last ounce of your stamina, you let out a defiant cry and popped back into shape just in time to push the ball out of the way, hoping your last-ditch effort would mess up Maddie’s kick and buy you a few extra seconds. Or, that was the plan in your head. In reality, you failed to consider the horrible ramifications of moving the ball after the athletic giantess had already begun her kick.
You didn’t even have time to blink, and Maddie only had a fraction of a second to cry out in surprise as you moved the ball right as she kicked. Her foot impacted like a bullet the size of a boulder, slamming into your one-foot-tall body and propelling you into the air. You nearly passed out from the impact alone as you flew through the air, pinwheeling uncontrollably. Maddie had no time to react to her target changing from the ball to you, and had not held back one bit on her thunderous kick. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
