“Okay stop this,” Samantha demanded, pointing a finger at the floating figure who now had returned to a gentle hovering height just out of arms reach. “Who are you Gergovelch, or whatever your name is!”

The figure laughed and raised a hand as if it would calm the now superhuman woman. “Yes, yes. I will explain. Though for simplicities sake call me Greg, and I am an extraterrestrial lifeform.”

The trio were once more disarmed by this almost casual revelation and were left a full minute processing the information before Jenny spoke up.

“You mean like E.T… or Yoda.”

Greg nodded. “Yoda, yes… although I don’t know what ET is. Should I watch, read or eat it?” He leaned in now, after counting off those three options on his six-fingered hand before flashing what could only be called a dashing smile.

“Umm, it is a movie.” Mark began.

“Oh, a movie. What fun. Then yes, I will watch it tonight.” He then laughed seeing Jenny and mark’s blank expressions of confusion and Samantha’s expression which was a mix of pissed and concern for her friends. Greg on seeing this sighed and again floated down, though this time landed on the ground, his powerful legs and imposing height being all the clearer now they had some reference next to Samantha, who he dwarfed. “Look please calm down. I don’t mean you harm. I mean look at what I have done for you?”

Samantha now perfectly formed eyebrows raised in an expression of ‘seriously.’

“Wait, you gave her the orbs?” Jenny asked in surprise.”

Greg shrugged, and pointed back to the waterfall. “Well left there under that water formation. But yes, you found one of my gifts.”

“Gifts?” Samantha said now feeling a new series of questions enter her mind, as she now looked up at what was clearly an Alien humanoid, but one she couldn’t help find somewhat handsome.

“Of course. I am what you call a… tourist. I teleport around the galaxy observing unevolved lifeforms and well.”

“Make them superheroes.” Mark said in excitement.

Greg laughed again. “Oh, celestials no. I fuck with them.”

That statement earned another series of blank looks from the trio, which caused Greg’s laughter to taper off into a nervous chuckle: followed by a cough. “Well within reason. I am not a spiteful individual. Nor do I enjoy genocide. No, I am a… agent of chaos.”

Samantha stared at him in shock. “How is that any better.”

“No, no.” Greg said shaking his head. “I am sorry, I am so used to instantaneous mental communication my verbal skills are somewhat rusty, so things get lost in translation. I am…” he again paused to think. “I am that droplet falling in a flat plane of water. The flat plane is boring, uninspired, simple. The droplet adds movement, spice and well momentum.”

Mark then nodded. “I get it. You’re an agent of change.”

Greg clapped his hand and pointed two fingers on each hand at mark. “And progress my good man. Yes, change and progress. You see I am from a megastructure nearer the core of the universe, where life evolved around a two billion years before yours did. We long ago achieved biological perfection, ecological sustainability and technological mastery. As such the only new thing we really can do is bring new races into the fold, and well…” he pointed to Mark’s hand and smiled. “You’re a bit behind in the evolution department. So, we ‘tourists’ tour the cosmos spreading genetic advancement to all of the… less evolved races and bring you up to an equal playing field.”

“And the orbs.” Samantha asked.

“Our little way of having fun.” Greg admitted with a shrug. “You see its not so much for us to dump ultimate power on you, you need to use it responsibly first. Get it bit by bit and learn to use it. So, we push people to seek out the power and in doing so learn about themselves and their new abilities.”

“So, wait, there are more orbs?” Jessica cried.

To which Greg smiled. “As you three were the first to stumble on one of my caches. I’ll give you a hint. Up the mountain is a cave. If you can get to it the powers inside are yours.”

“And if we don’t get it?” Mark asked.

“Well someone one day will. I mean I don’t plan on going back to get them.” He snorted. “Still the important part of this is for you to learn and have fun. Now, what do you say?”
