All the employees gathered in the conference room were discussing among themselves. Emma, Liz and Natalie were also having their private discussion. Caleb and John were also talking to each other. They themselves were shocked to be called for the meeting.
Suddenly Charlotte asked, "Why are we assembled? Why only some of us are here? Can someone please explain?"
Then Liz got up from her chair and started talking. She told them, "The store owner has given us a task. They want to conduct an experiment among the store employees for each week over the next month. It is compulsory for all the Wilko employees to take part in the experiment. For this week all the employees in the assembly except us are going to take part in the experiment. For that reason, you all have been called up."
Steven asked, "But what is the experiment?"
Liz said, "The friend of the store owner is a renowned scientist and they have good relations. He has invented a machine which is going to be used in the experiment. The machine is meant to swap the lives of two people."
After hearing this, all of them were shocked. Jessica asked, "Is this a prank? How is that even possible?"
Natalie tried to calm them down. After a while Liz continued, "I know this might come as a shock. But it is true. He is considered one of the world's best scientists. None of his experiments have failed. We all have to take part in this experiment."
Laura asked, "But how is this even possible? We cannot go around and live each other's lives."
Laura was cut off by an impressive looking woman in her early 30's. She acknowledged Emma and started talking. She said, "I am Elizabeth. I am the assistant of the scientist. I think you all now know why you were gathered. But you still have some doubts. We have built a machine which is meant to swap lives. You all will live the life of the person you are to swap with. No one will have a clue other than you and your partner. But before that you all have to sign an NDA." Natalie then gave everyone an NDA and everyone reluctantly signed them. After that everyone was given a diary. Elizabeth continued, "To make things more interesting we have decided to swap male employess with female employees. It'll not only help you know what goes on on the other fence of gender field but will also help us understand your perspective. You have to write all of your feelings in the diary given to you."
Suddenly Ruby interrupted Elizabeth, "But there are only 6 male employees here and 8 female employees other than the managers." Natalie intervened saying, "Caleb and John are also going to take part in the experiment for this week." Everyone was shocked after hearing that. Female employees constantly opposed it as they didn't want to work as a janitor or a security guard.
Some time later, Elizabeth came with a bowl of papers in which all male employees names were written. She told all female employees to pick one paper. All of them reluctantly picked one. Elizabeth told them, "You are going to swap lives with the person whose name is on the paper you chose. Open the paper and read the names."
All of them were nervous as no one knew what was going to happen. All the female employees opened their paper. Some were relieved, others were shocked and Jessica was crying. Male employees were worried but stayed silent. Sasha took the paper from Jessica's hand and read it. The person Jessica was going to swap with was...
