"Well, okay Lincoln." Meli reluctantly said. "I guess I can go in there by myself." Before Lincoln could walk away from her, though, Meli bid him one last short farewell by grabbing onto his arm. "But can you back and come into Lola's room with me when you're done, please?" Meli asked with a sad look on her face.
Lincoln saw how scared the shy girl was and didn't like when she was about to cry, so he easily put her at ease. "Of course, Meli. I'll come in there to help you."
Much to Lincoln's surprise and soon his delight, Meli gave him a hug around his waist. "Thank you, Lincoln. Would you please stay and play with us for the whole night? I'm scared." Lincoln saw how timid the young girl in gray was and tried to help her get over her fear.
Lincoln got down on his knee again and held on to her shoulders. "You don't have to be scared, Meli. These girls are your friends. You don't need me to help you through this. Just try to have a good time with them." Lincoln encouraged.
"No. Lola's my only friend, and this is my first sleepover." She clarified. "I don't know Cricket and Roxanne so I was afraid that they might hate me. I'm just so scared." Meli was about to cry until Lincoln gently put a hand on her cheek. He lifted her head up and he showed her a friendly, caring smile and wiped away her tears.
"It's okay, Meli. Don't cry. I'll tell you what. If you really don't feel comfortable being alone with Lola and her friends, then I won't leave you alone with them. And if you ever have any problems tonight, you can just come to me and I'll help you with it any way I can."
Meli sniffed. "Y-y-you promise?"
"I promise. Just let me take care of this little thing and I'll be right with you all." Lincoln answered and stuck his hand out to give Meli a pinky-swear that he would stay with her for the whole sleepover.
"Thank you, Lincoln." Meli then gave Meli another hug and Lincoln gently returned her embrace with a gentle pat on her back. Unbeknownst to the two of them, Roxanne and Cricket heard everything they said and it touched their hearts to see just how nice and sweet Lincoln was to Meli when she needed it most.
As they broke free from their hug, Lincoln went to Lisa's room while Meli slowly went inside Lola's room. She knocked on the door and looked toward Lincoln one more time. He gave her an encouraging nod which told her to go for it. As soon as Lola opened the door and let Meli into her room, Lincoln entered Lisa's room and closed the door behind him to hopefully keep the others safe from whatever contraption Lisa left in her room.
"Okay, Lincoln. You can do this." He said to himself. "Just need to turn off Lisa's invention and then I can join the girls. Easy. Now where is that thing?" He looked around her room until he saw what appeared to be some kind of device on her desk. "That must be it. Here we go."
The machine on Lisa's desk appeared to be some kind of small, laser-like device that was glowing in a bright blue energy aura. Lincoln was pretty worried about getting near that device, but he knew that if he left it on, there was a good chance it might harm the girls and he just couldn't allow that to happen.
Taking a deep breath and mustering up his courage, Lincoln went up to Lisa's machine and observed it to find some kind of off switch or anything that could shut it off. He then noticed a blinking red button on the bottom of the machine and figured that that must've been an off button, so, reluctantly, he went and pushed the red button.
Lincoln was nervous as he expected the machine to explode or something like that. Instead, its blue aura instantly faded away. He breathed a sigh of relief as he felt like that was it. But he couldn't have been more wrong. The machine started up again and aimed itself directly at Lincoln. "Oh no." Right as Lincoln said that, the machine suddenly fired a beam of blue energy directly at him.
Lincoln was engulfed in a blue aura and felt like he was getting an electric shock. But instead, he felt like his whole body was being compressed and compacted into a smaller space. The machine fired its beam at him for a few more seconds until it just stopped. When it was over, the aura around Lincoln faded as well. He seemed to look the same, but he just felt like there was something very different about him.
What happened to Lincoln?
1. The ray instantly shrunk him to 3 inches tall.
2. The ray instantly shrunk him to 1 inch tall.
3. The ray instantly shrunk him to ant size.
4. Nothing happened. Lincoln shrunk at a slow pace.
5. Lincoln shrinks and grows back randomly.
